Global Wii and DS sales decline

Hardware and software sales down in the sixth months ended September

Nintendo saw a significant drop in DS and Wii sales in the six months ended September 2010.

The company sold 6.69 million DS units worldwide, compared to 11.7 million during the same period last year, while DS software sales dropped from 71.15 million to 54.84 million.

Wii sales fell from 5.75 million units a year earlier to 4.97 million, while software sales dropped from 76.2 million units to 65.21 million.

The drop off in hardware adoption saw the platform holder post a loss of 2 billion yen (£15.5m) for the six months.
