Backwards compatibility on PS3 is something that many have cried out for but not been granted sufficiently.
One of the ways Sony has given PS3 owners access to former greats, however, is through HD remakes of series' such as God of War.
Talking to fan site TheGameHeadz.com, "one of Sony's own" has apparently revealed some of the ideas that were on the table for PS3 backwards compatibility.
More interesting, however, is a hint that Sony will keep churning out 'Collections' with some of PlayStation's biggest franchises coming soon:
"The industry's best developers are ReMastering their best games. Prince of Persia, Shadow of Colossus, and ICO are just the beginning," the mystery source said.
"When fans see what Konami's doing to the Metal Gear series, and what Square's doing with Final Fantasy, they're going to be very happy."
We're just happy with the suggestion that they could be getting Collection treatment soon.
Of course, we'd like to hear it from someone with a name before we put away the salt. We'll get on the phone to Sony.
The God of War Collection arrived on the PlayStation Network yesterday. Check it out if you're not a fan of the disc.
Thanks to Focker420 for the tip.
