Arkham Asylum inspires new Batman comic

Batman writer Grant Morrison gives props to Rocksteady's game

Batman Arkham Asylum has had an impact on respected comic book writer Grant Morrison.

So much so in fact that he has based the tone of his new Batman series, Batman, Inc. on the game itself.

Morrison applauded Arkham Asylum for its authentic experience:

"One of the things I wanted to do was capture the feeling of the Batman: Arkham Asylum game that came out in 2009", he told Wired.

"When I played that game, it was the first time in my life where I actually felt what it is like to be Batman. It was very involving. The way the game and Paul Dini's story was created, crafted and shot made you actually feel like Batman.

"People don't want to pay money to watch some guy pretending to be someone else when they could be doing it themselves," he continued.

"In games, anyone can be a superhero or a soldier, and the gaming experience doesn't follow strict narrative rules.

"You can do things on your own, and move in directions you choose. So I wanted to follow that concept: We are now the heroes, and we can look through their eyes."

It's a case of coming full circle, since the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game was actually partially inspired by the Grant Morrison comic... Arkham Asylum.

The latest Batman: Arkham City screens emerged at the beginning of October showing the sequel to be another looker already.
