CoD: Black Ops breaks UK day 1 sales record

1.4m units shifted in 24 hours, up 14 per cent on Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops has smashed the previous record for day one game sales in the UK.

Activision's shooter shifted 1.4 million copies in its first 24 hours of availability, beating unit sales of last year's Modern Warfare 2 by 14 per cent, according to Chart-Track data released to MCV.

The game generated £58 million in revenue on launch day, up 22 per cent on 2010's series entry.

Yesterday, Activision said Black Ops had become "the biggest entertainment launch ever", moving 5.6 million copies and bringing in $360 million across the US and UK on day one.
