XBL Gold members use service for 3 hours per day

MS also says it makes more from digital transactions than subscriptions

Xbox Live Gold members use the service for three hours per day on average, according to Dennis Durkin, chief operating officer of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business.

40 per cent of that time is spent on non-gaming activities, like Netflix, Last.fm and Facebook, he said at the BMO Capital Markets Annual Digital Entertainment Conference, according to Joystiq.

"Those are very, very engaged customers, which is a good business," Durkin said, noting that MS makes more from Xbox Live digital transactions than it does from subscription fees.

Xbox Live generated over $1 billion in revenues last year.
