Kinect launches in Japan, schoolgirls involved

Motion sensing goes East

Kinect launched in Japan today - boosted by a Christmas theme at retailers in the country. And it might not surprise you to hear that school girls were in attendance.

Microsoft's launch for the device featured two members of pop group SKE48 in full school uniform - and their avatars.

Meanwhile, Andriasang reports that wrestler Keiji Mutou also pitched up for the Saturday launch - and was beaten by the girls at Kinect Sports Boxing.

The trio appeared alongside Microsoft Home & Entertainment head Takashi Sensui at an early morning launch event at the massive Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara.

According to Andriasang's liveblog of the event, between 150 and 200 people queued to get their hands on the device.
