Jeremiah Slaczka, creative director and co-founder of Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell, has said the Nintendo 3DS is 'cooler' than Microsoft and Sony's latest innovations, the Kinect and Move controllers.
When asked if Kinect or Move provide him with any inspiration, a seemingly uninspired Slaczka replied: "Yeah... a little. I don't know. The 3DS is cooler in our opinion."
He went to say 5th Cell decided against encouragement from Microsoft to make a Kinect game in the early planning stages of its next game, an XBLA shooter called Hybrid.
"When we were working on Hybrid, we [had to] decide whether we wanted to do a Kinect game or a core title. Microsoft said 'You can do Kinect!' We checked it out, and decided we'd rather do this."
He seems no more enthusiastic about Move. "Move is okay. It's Wii plus. It's good for what it is. Ultimately it's all about the system. If the idea makes sense, then we can do it and we will. But it's all about the idea."
Slaczka confirmed 5th Cell is "in the R&D phase" to make a 3DS game. "We have people playing around with it," he told Game Informer magazine. "The 3D camera is probablu the most interesting thing that's the least talked about," he added.
