Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has received an update on the status of both Capcom's 3DS Resi titles, as well as a few new details on Mercenaries 3D.
According to the mag, although Revelations is only 20 per cent complete, Mercenaries, a spin-off game based on a bonus mode that debuted in Resident Evil 3, is close to 70 per cent complete.
Producer Masachika Kawata and director Kazuhisa Inoue confirmed to Famitsu that the game would stick close to its roots. Like its predecessors, it won't have a story, instead focusing on co-operative zombie hunting gameplay.
The 3DS version will obviously include 3D visuals, but Capcom has also utilised the system's Wi-Fi for up to two player co-op and the controls are being reworked for a better user experience.
Mercenaries will feature RPG-like character customisation and upgrading options which will focus on levelling up skills and customising weapons.
So far, Capcom has confirmed Chris Redfield, who will be based on the RE5 version, Claire Redfield, who will be a quicker and more agile character and Jack Krauser, a powerful character who specialises in archery, rocket launcher weapons and can use a knife for close combat. Umbrella Security Service Alpha Team commando HUNK will also be playable.
Capcom is also currently developing Resident Evil: Revelations for 3DS.
