Mass Effect 3 is in development at BioWare and will be published by EA.
The news was (finally) confirmed by a posting on the EA Store late last night.
Although the slip-up didn't give us a release date, it did provide a quick blurb on story details:
"Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth."
The listing said that ME3 WILL be released on PS3 - as well as Xbox 360 and PC.
However, most other information seemed to be placeholder data - including a standard $59.95 price tag. According to Joystiq, EA has now (unsurprisingly) removed the listing.
Mass Effect 3 is expected to be officially revealed via an extended trailer at the VGAs in Los Angeles tonight (around 1am UK time).
