Harmonix sues parent company Viacom

Rock Band dev accuses owner of trying to avoid paying performance bonuses

Ex-shareholders of Rock Band developer Harmonix have launched a lawsuit against parent company Viacom, accusing the firm of attempting to wriggle out of honouring performance-related bonuses.

The plaintiffs include Harmonix founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, as well as other early funders of the Boston-based studio, according to Gamasutra.

The former shareholders say they are seeking to "recover damages arising from Viacom's manipulation of... earn-out payments by diverting opportunities from Harmonix for its own benefit in breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing that inheres in Viacom's contract with Harmonix".

Viacom said last month that it is to sell Harmonix.
