XBL hits 30 million accounts, PSN 60 million

Platform holders release updated figures for console online services

Microsoft and Sony have announced that Xbox Live and PSN have surpassed 30 million and 60 million registered user accounts respectively.

Xbox Live's figure is up five million since November 11 last year, while PSN's has grown from 38 million accounts a year ago, Joystiq reports.

It should of course be noted that Sony's data includes PSN accounts created by PSP users and ones made on the PlayStation website - and that PSN accounts are free, in contrast to Xbox Live Gold memberships.

Microsoft also used its CES keynote to announce that it has sold eight million Kinects in 60 days.
