The L.A Noire release date has been revealed by a leaked trailer from Rockstar - which has since been pulled by Take Two.

[Update: At the time of writing, the naughty scamps at Destructoid are still hosting the trailer, which you can see below. Don't expect it to be around long...]
The title pits players as detective Cole Phelps on a number of LAPD desks including Vice, Homicide and Traffic.
The trailer, which hit YouTube for a couple of hours earlier today, showed a series of scenes from the game relating to the hunt for a serial killer.
It looked brilliant, with one particular nightclub scenario showing off Team Bondi's revolutionary face capture technology to the full.
We've been told you'll be able to see it in full, HD on Monday afternoon.
Until then, mark May 17 in your diary, as shown off by the trailer grab we pinched above. This one's looking a bit special. Check out our latest preview of it through here.

This game is gonna be awesome, but the mo cap tech used for this makes me wonder if its being implemented in other Rockstar projects, such as GTAV or possibly RDR2

Some of the scenes look very gory. I hope it doesn't get bits cut from it by the BBFC. If ever there was an 18 rated game, this is it. I can't wait for this.

Unless we're getting a worldwide release, 17th May is the U.S. release date. We may have to wait till the 20th.

Another Rockstar classic no doubt with superb production values. Can't wait

This is NOT a Rockstar production in any shape or form they have had no say in it
. Team Bondi have slaved away on this game if it does indeed turn out "classic" please note Rockstar did sod all.
Remember your credit goes to Team Bondi & Sony (who massively financed this game) and Rockstar for shoving the disc and manual in a box.

Can't wait for this to come out.

So Sony fronted the bill for this to be on the Xbox 360 too then? Plus Rockstar do a hell of a lot more than just stick the disc & manual in a case like funding the entire project & so forth for example.......do you even know what a publisher does?
Anyway, this is a my most anticipated game on Home consoles, can't wait.

If you're gonna rant at least try getting everything right, now go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

Okay if you insist then I'll explain the tale of L.A Noire. Believe it or not along time ago as far back as 2005 in fact (time flys) this game was for all intents and purposes Playstation 3 exclusive. Sony was dealing with all publishing rights and pumping the money into this project..now I don't know when exactly this next bit happened but the rumour goes Team Bondi was making a hash of the project and Sony wasn't impressed with the progress at all. Rockstar came in and took the project but then had an issue of what to do about the fact Sony pumped alot of money into it. A deal was thrashed out Rockstar got L.A Noire and Sony got a guarenteed exclusive on Rockstar's next hot new title Agent.
Any more questions?
El Mag on 23 Jan '11 said:
So therefore Rockstar would have to give Sony the money back it had pumped into it up until that point, and from the rumour both Team Bondi and Sony were overseeing an expensive turkey and couldn't fix it. So that would surely mean Rockstar do deserve some credit for rescuing it and getting the game into the shape we have it now? alot more than your original post implied they do anyway.
NoobDefence on 23 Jan '11 said:
Nah Rockstar didn't give a penny back basically Sony's "paid" for the Agent exclusive just not directly. You guys can read more about these developments in depth here.

You gotta admit Rockstar deserve a bit of credit though. It's Team Bondi's baby and vision but Rockstar helped set it back going, i don't agree with the "Rockstar's LA Noire" posts because it's not, but it is a team effort. Games tm issue 104 had a big interview and it's obvious it's taken them both, it was a good read.

@NoobDefence: >"Rockstar did sod all."
Yeah, right. Of course they did. When I mentioned superb production values, that compliment goes to the developers of the game.
