Within just days of its launch, LittleBigPlanet 2 is already raising huge smiles at Media Molecule and Sony as it smashes user count figures for the first game.
"The user count is actually quite crazy," Media Molecule co-founder and technical director David Smith has told Eurogamer.

"I think some people [at Sony] would be waving certain things at me if I gave the actual numbers, but it's significantly higher," he said, keeping figures to himself, but was optimistic that the mystery number may get significantly bigger still.
"In the next few days we might even double the number of users online at once," he said. "That's pretty major. It's not a stealth launch: there's a lot of people out there that seem to be waiting for it."
Smith put some of this good fortune down to a successful beta. "Because we had the awesome beta, fan reaction we know about and we've had time to respond to. Now we're just excited to see how big it gets - how many people we're going to get."
This could be part of the reason the game has been suffering from online loading issues that have been forcing users to restart their PS3s to escape a never ending load screen.

Providing this is true, this is great news and thoroughly deserved, played a little online solo due to this loading glitch stopping me and a couple of mates playing together but mainly stuck to the story levels and im loving it so far and I hope others are too.
Now just get that loading glitch fixed.

Loading glitch seems to be fixed now (with no update, must have been a server side problem), and I've played some levels on there I could have never even dreamed of.
Outstanding game.

Once the bugs are fixed and servers up to snuff I'll buy this for sure. I loved the first and this one seems to have more to do.

I looked at LBP years ago and thought it was a neat idea. I even thought about having a play with the level creator, but thought time would be a big issue for me. Alas I never actually got around to buying the game, if only because I'm not really a fan of the platforming genre. And now it seems the game has come again, and I end up wondering once more as to whether to purchase LBP and see what it has to offer, or to let it pass me by and perhaps miss something special at the same time. To anyone that has a bought it, is it worth it? Does the game stand up by itself, or do you really have to get into creating/downloading custom content to really get into it and enjoy it?

100% buy it mate, its brilliant. The shear amount of content is amazing, and the online levels are the best ones. You don't need to download any content, you just look at the levels published and just play it, its that simple.
As for creating, while it is brilliant to do so it really isn't essential at all. I won't be creating any levels in this game as I can't be bothered and don't really have the time. Instead I'm just going to play
