Frank West axed from Marvel Vs Capcom 3 last-minute

Dead Rising star cut due to the "extra work required" to get him in

You saw silhouettes of Frank West and other evidence that suggested he was in Marvel Vs Capcom 3. The rumour mill was right - he was in it. But he isn't anymore. D'oh!

The Dead Rising leading man was apparently fairly far into development, but was axed last-minute. "As for Frank West, he was actually in the process quite deep, and in one of our high quality CG trailers he was actually part of it," revealed the game's producer Ryota Niitsuma.

"But we've taken him out, due to the fact that we've foreseen some extra work involved, just from the nature of his moves. We felt we could direct our resources to better use, so we've taken Frank out," he added.

He made no further mention of the possibility that West could appear as a future downloadable character, but did mention one other unlikely character that could.

"Phoenix Wright is obviously a famous franchise - especially in Europe, actually. It would be interesting to see him, although he distinctively lacks the number of moves he might have [in a fighting game]. But if Marvel vs. Capcom 3 does well, he's definitely up on the list as one of the characters to add, given the chance."

That's crazy talk. We like it.

Well don't be surprised, they did say he wasn't confirmed to be in it not long ago.

Arthur from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts would have been a better choice

I'd liked to have seen Blade on the Marvel side, he'd fit into a fighter well.

Translation: "To be honest, we just couldn't be asked so we thought we'd make a pretty title graphic or something instead 8) "

He would have been a pretty cool character to have in the game. Too bad there will be no Frank West vs. Iron Man fights any time soon.

I could imagine his armour degrades with his health meter, until he's finally in his boxers once again.

Arthur from ghouls and ghosts is in it. The excuse they've given about moves for frank is total BS. He already has a complete moves set he was in TvsC for chist sake. It's like saying you didn't put ryu in because he didn't have a complete move set.

xD Sorry,I meant to say Frank West should have been replaced with Arthur, but kept in :D
He would have been so awesome,I don't get why Capcom wouldn't consider him. :D

Don't worry, Frank Fans. Chances are good that Capcom have left him on the disc so you can pay to unlock him later.

If Phoenix makes his way into MVC3 i might buy this. Despite the fact i disliked Street Fighter 4 for its hardcoreness and i've never played a 2D Fighter on a console. (Cept Super Smash Bros)

Ah, I get you. Well, you'll be pleased to know that unless they axe him too, he'll be in the final game. :D
