Battlestar Galactica is one of the first big name sci-fi franchises to go free as a browser-based MMO and as the game enters its beta phase for an imminent debut, new screens and a fresh trailer have emerged like a Colonial Viper from a launch tube.
Now Ronald D Moore's re-imagining of the camp Seventies show, was one of our favourite sci-fi classics from the past decade and many's the evening we've monstered nigh on a whole season in the company of Number Six, Starbuck, Adama and the fantastically gloomy Colonel Tigh.
So, we've high hopes for BSG Online and based on these screens and the movie, we have to say it's looking more than a little promising.
Browser-based gaming has been gaining a bit of traction recently and BSG Online may well be the first title to break through to a mass audience with a known and well-loved property, the backing of the Sy-fy channel and a hefty launch campaign.
So what do you think - excited by the prospect of free browser based BSG goodies - or are you planning to stick with your subscription for WOW or Eve Online? Let us know your verdict think in the comments below. So say us all!

Urgh... can I just say that the BSG 2004 theme tune completely encompasses everything I hated about the show. It starts off beautiful and promises a wonderful journey... but then craps out halfway through and becomes boring, bland and outclassed by almost everything else I've ever heard. The same applied to my experience of the show; I could only just barely force myself to the ending of Season One. I've always wanted to give it another try though because I believe it could have been great, but I've never bothered to spend more money on it. Does it get any better? Ever? Does it stop focusing on imaginary cyborgs living in some guy's brain and shagging him silly in his subconscious?
As for the gameplay, eh. The space sections look pretty good (whether they stay that way when there's a hundred thousand people playing at once is another matter), but massive "eww" to the character design and animations.
This was one of the best television shows in the last decade, just had a bit of a limp ending.
Looking forward to see what they do with this after the s**tty arcade game that came out on Live. They don't seem to have captured the orange peel effect of Edward James Olmos's face though.

This comment proves that you didnt watch to the show to its conclusion otherwise you would know what the above was about. (no spoilers for anyone who hasnt seen it)
You really should watch it all the way through ... It WAS the best TV series of the noughties by far ... and the ending was far better than that s**tty 'Lost' ending.
However if you got to the end of the first series and didnt 'get it' .. tbh you never will. The cliffhanger at the end of the first series is without a doubt one of the best endings to a series I have ever seen. Never saw it coming.
BSG is ace, i'm currently half way through the second series now (better late than never) and i'm loving it. I think Gaius Baltar is my favourite, what a bumbling genius!
I'm currently halfway through the final season and I'm honestly heartbroken that its coming to the end. I'll no doubt be watching this show again and again.

I honestly found those parts of the show to be quite hilarious
I'm making my way through the series now but I'm liking most of what I'm seeing so far. As for the game I'm excited but I still have that jilted lover aftertaste that comes with anything that has the name SyFy attached to it. Nothing like telling your customers who got you to the point you're at that they're a bit too geeky for you and you need to steer away from anything too Sci-Fi by softening up your name. But let's hope the game is good

Of course I didn't watch it to its conclusion. I stopped at the end of season one because it was boring me senseless and that subplot was part of it. I'm not one of those people that keeps watching a show they hate (except for Twilight, but I'm only doing that for the lulz).

Yeah, that part I liked a lot, that was good.

To each his own. Some I liked, but most of them I found to be cringe-inducingly awful. There was also way too much talk about God. Yeah, I get that it was part of the Cylon plot and usually I wouldn't mind, but... I don't know... I just felt I was being preached to for a lot of it, which does not endear me to a show, regardless of what's being preached.

Those bastards... q_q They cancelled all three Stargates... by the end of the first season of Universe, after being cautious about it for so long, I actually had hoped for it to continue and thought it had a lot of promise too...

heh, no that does not stop. It was silly but acting aside it's Tricia Helfer and I'm in love.
Ahem, anyway if it's p**sing you off at that stage I wouldn't bother watching anymore.

This looks terrible. Bland and boring. Is this the most exciting trailer they could rustle up?
