PS Suite to deliver software and hardware

Sony today unveiled its PlayStation Suite, a new initiative which will allow the firm's games to be played on Android-enabled mobile devices.

Sony today said it was happy to deliver "PlayStation quality" software to certain handsets.

The firm said that it plans to provide PS Suite content within this calendar year, starting with PSOne games. It also plans to open PlayStation Store on mobiles, where users will be able to download content directly via their Android based portable devices.

In addition, Sony said it will "provide a new game development environment in an effort to ensure new and compelling content is delivered on PS Suite" - opening the way for original PlayStation games on mobile, and an avenue for third parties to work with Sony on new mobile games.
