It looks like EA is chasing after Gran Turismo 5's crown with Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed, with a new trailer for the game proclaiming it to be "the most realistic racer ever".

Now we have a new video that shows some pretty impressive footage of cars going fast, different racing disciplines in action, tyre smoke and plenty of drifting. But can it rightly claim the crown as the world's "most realistic racing game"?
We'll be the judge of that when it's out on March 24. For now, we'll let you guys put the video below under close scrutiny.

just shut up and make underground 3.
as for realistic racing, ps3 gamers will play GT and xbox gamers will play forza and people will make spelling mistakes and call the game s**t 2.

LOL
A little harsh, but I know where you're coming from there. Still, it looks like a solid racer - silly strapline or not - but yeah, the words 'most realistic' will always be linked with either Forza or GT. Definitely worth a blast though.

Damn right DPS. Just make underground 3 oh and don't forget the Cheesy FMV and the Photoshoots on magazines with the lovely backgrounds.

most realistic car game ever ya right, i love GT5 but the handeling is not realistic , if you want a proper car game play GTR evo, live for speed or R factor.

i'm sick of this realistic s**t, i dont want game to be realistic, thats why i play f**king games and go about jumping of buildings and shooting people. as quoted by the first commenter MAKE UNDERGROUND 3! I do see EA Blackbox are making another need for speed title i wonder if we will get our wish.

personally i think the first shift is a better game than GT5.
It may not have as many cars but GT5's car list is just 20 versions of the same cars and the car models, except the premiums, dont really seem to have moved on much from prologue and even some of the premium models have badly done liveries, with writing being mirrored incorrectly and backwards, for a game so long in development it was the biggest gaming disappointment of 2010 for me.
Sure i really enjoy GT5 but for me its more of an interactive car encyclopedia that lets u test drive the cars than it is a racing game. EA have been making some good decisions with console need for speeds recently and i think when shift 2 is released its gonna come with the great reveiws that hot pursuit did and will overshadow GT5, it may not come with a 1000 different skylines but if shift 1 is to go by then the quality will win over GT5s quantity

I'm sick of realistic driving games. If I wanted to drive I would go outside and do it, let me go a little crazy when I'm playing games.

Cant f**king wait for this!!! Loved SHIFT 1 & this looks even better.
Wish the devs would shut up though. Arrogant t**ts are actually putting me off the game.

GT5 is a driving simulator, not racing.

They seem to be plugging night racing in this new iteration so i can only assume they mean Realistic in the context of the visuals being more immersive. Call me pessimistic but i can't see this being a huge improvement from the first game and whats with all the self proclaimed statements?!
