A Swedish retailer has seemingly let slip the first proper details of EA's Battlefield 3.
A user on EA's forums grabbed the following info from the shop's website:

Game features were listed as follows:
Frostbite 2 - Battlefield 3 introduces Frostbite 2, the incredible technology that takes animation, destruction, lighting, scale and audio to new heights. Built upon this powerful game engine, Battlefield 3 immerses players physically and emotionally to the world around them like never before.
Feel the Battle - Feel the impact of bullets and explosions, drag your fallen comrades into safety, and mount your weapon on almost any part of the terrain. Battlefield 3's cutting edge animation, spectacular visuals and real as hell battle gameplay attack your senses and make you feel the visceral warriors experience like no other FPS.
Unparalleled Vehicle Warfare - The best online vehicle warfare experience gets even better with a fitting sonic boom as fighter jets headline impressive lineup of land, air and sea vehicles.
Urban Combat - Take the fight to iconic and unexpected places in the USA, Middle East, and Europe including claustrophobic streets, metropolitan downtowns, and open, vehicle-friendly landscapes as you fight your way through the war of tomorrow.
Game Informer is also reporting that the title will feature 64-player multiplayer on PC, jets, and the ability to go prone.
A teaser trailer for Battlefield 3 hit the net yesterday, revealing that the game is scheduled to launch this autumn.

I can't be the only one who's a bit skeptical about having a full BF release that has a campaign?

Yay! It's another modern warfare shooter.
Was rather hoping for something, well, different. Red Orchestra 2 it is then.

Single Player WTF! I thought this was supposed to be a proper battlefield game, really disappointed in DICE. Means its going to get dumbed down to just another COD clone.

Hopefully EA go PS3 lead because it's the platform of choice for shooters... They are going that route a little more, I think Dead Space 2 was lead and that was outstanding results on both platforms. The only bad that came (which isn't really bad) is if you play it on 360 you get it on 2 discs.
I know Medal of Honor was lead platform on PS3 for the single player but I'm not sure if Dice went PS3 lead with the mp player, BFBC2 was Xbox lead so unless they switched it up for MoH mp then I can't see them doing it for the sp. I'm confident in pre-ordering the PS3 version now though because BFBC2 was pretty close across the consoles.
I have a spare MoH online pass which I redeemed on a different account, so I will be getting 2 beta codes. When they e-mail them to me I'll give one to someone on here. Maybe Paradaz? Oh I forgot he hates PS3.

I would the Single Player will either be a continuation of the Bad Company storyline or just maps with bots.
Good to hear the maps will be big enough for Jets, I miss them from BF2, I was never any good but my mate was a great pilot and would be very handy when coordinating an attack with your squad. I think DICE have said PC will be the lead platform, which makes sense as BF series has been primarily a PC game (with the exception of Bad company)

Paris, Tehran and New York are rather predictable locations for a game. It seems they *ahem* tehran out of ideas

Tehran? TEHRAN? Jesus Christ, thats going to go down like a fart in a submarine. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting really bored with developers deliberately courting controversy like this. Grow the f*ck up. How about having an elite group of US marines tearing up Stockholm instead of Tehran? Tehran will probably execute some Swedish nationals on trumped up smuggling charges in response to this. It'll all end in tears.

Has nobody else noticed the "cover shots" are just the BFBC2 cover with a motion blur and blue tinit applied to it? Hmmm... this all sounds a little "Iffy"...

Hold on a second some of the maps are going to be places like Paris and New York, does that mean we'll actually get to play in proper god damn cities with the destruction tech, that would be pretty awesome!
TheLastDodo on 4 Feb '11 said:
Paris predictable? Really?
Also DICE theres no need to dumb this down for consoles, theres a reason why some people play BF instead of CoD (I happen to like both, well IW's CoD's anyway). Just take your time and bring across as much as is technically possible from the PC version to the PS3 and I'll be happy with that.

Considering the Xbox 360 has more First Person Shooters, and is most commonly known as the FPS Console -- I agree! PS3 is platform of choice!

I like how everyone is throwing their toys out of the pram because it has single player and that some how means it will be dumbed down to "console" levels and as a result hold back the PC version.
The PC version has 64 players and dedicated servers I believe so stop your whining.
I just hope DICE make the effort to up the player count on the console versions as well. Home Front are managing dedicated servers with large player counts on the consoles so why can't BF3?

Don't know what all the chest beating's about. Not one in-game screenshot, some unofficial text and people have give up on the game already. Madness.

Personally I'll be happy if they move closer to the depth of BF2 with the BC2 engine and don't cheat console gamers out of the PC features like 64 players or the ability to go prone (f**king hell, like that is being advertised as a key feature!
)

As the PS3 has 256 player MAG, which can be crazy sometimes, it would now be nice to have this 64 Player BF3 on the 360, 5 Years + now its about f**king time as its itching to happen.
It sounds like a breath of fresh air compared to COD.

Altitude's not really being a history nerd.

More like just someone who's been alive in the last 97 years.....
in the Western world
or the British Empire (as it was then or now),
or the French Empire (as it was then or now)
or the Ottoman Turk Empire (as it was then or now)
or the Russian Empire (as it was then or now)
or the US,
or Japan,
or Africa,
basically anywhere except Thailand or South America.....
oops, they saw some naval operations round there too,
let's just say anywhere except Thailand or Antarctica
Other than that, yeah, he's a history nerd, way to stick it to the boring history nerds dude
Hmmmm, they might have actually heard of it in Thailand.
