The next Assassin's Creed game will be announced in May, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has just confirmed.
Speaking to investors on a conference call this afternoon, Guillemot said the new game will be released this year.
"We will have an Assassin's Creed this year... We are going to give you more details in May," he said, confirming that it's a "packaged title".
The publisher said it plans to pour more resources into the Assassin's Creed franchise to make it even more profitable.

Asked during an investor call if we'll see a new game during its fiscal year 2011-2012, Guillemot replied: "There will be something around Assassin's - that's all we can say."
Ubisoft confirmed this afternoon that latest instalment Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has shipped 6.5 million copies.

my favourate rumour about where it's possibly being set is 16th Century London, acomplacing Guy Fawkes in blowing up parliment, parliment possibly being linked to the Templars! It would be awesome seeing how big a game can be pin pointed to one city (Rome) and somewhere more urban and busy could add brilliant game play!

I would be worried about AC succumbing to the same fate as Guitar Hero, but it's worth pointing out that as AC has a narrative to it, it will naturally come to an an end anyway. Therefore I'm personally not too worried about AC games becoming yearly, especially if they maintain the same standards as seen in AC Brotherhood

I've yet to finish AC Botherhood so not entirely sure of the ending but I certainly hope they're going to bring in a new character, and not carry on with Ezio. I certainly like him better than I did in ACII but still I feel he's being drawn out too much. And definitely bring in a new timezone.

I don't wana be Donnie Dickhead here, but isn't this the announcement that a new Assassins Creed game is coming out?m
Ludakriss on 14 Feb '11 said:
This year?! Why can't these seriously talented people just redesign the engine, take 2-3 years to develop it and actually give us a game where Ezio's cape does not look like a F***ING hexagon?
Well, get ready for some more mediocrity with incredible potential...

I'm all up for a new Assassins Creed, i love the series. But I pray Ubisoft and Assassins Creed doesn't go all Activision and Call of Duty on us (yearly updates, same stuff over and over)

they really need to make the player models better and improve some of the animation. it uses in-game cut scenes but they are pretty poor because of these 2 things.

I hope the franchise doesn't start to turn stale now they have turned the milking machine on.

i dont know wat they can do with the combat but they need to do something, iv loved ac games but found myself gettin bored half way through brotherhood, the combat is jst too simplistic, when you know how to counter youre pretty much invincible. jst far too easy, work is also needed on mission variety when you take out all filler missions they are all pretty much the same. also animations are looking quite s**t now, screen tearing is also still a problem.
other than that gud game!

Like MJ said I love AC series aswell and honestly hope it doesn't go Activision and CoD on us

They improve it on every game, it was awful in AC1, it was good in AC2, and in ACB you just felt like a badass.
I'm sure they'll make it even better this time, and even if they don't i'll still love it.

Just echoing the views of everyone else, really love the series and am totally confident the new game will be just as good as Brotherhood, if not better.

The devs apparently wanted a bit of space before the next game, but nooooooooo, it has to be a yearly thing. As much as I like the games, this worries me.

You're right about the combat in AC:B. In AC2 it was really good but in AC:B they really dumbed it down. In AC2 you had to be smart to use the counters effectively, and watch the animations of the enemies to figure who was going to attack and when they would attack. It required good reaction skills. But in AC:B they added a flashing indicator above their heads to basically tell us which one, a long time in advance. It was like guards were saying "hey I'm going to attack you, get ready, I'll attack in 5 seconds, are you ready? Okay ... attacking now".

It was announced last year that there would be a new AC at some point in 2011. Now they're just announcing that they'll reveal the game in May

I loved AC2 and Brotherhood, but three games in three years means this is well on the way to being milked in the same way that every other successful franchise is. But 6.5m are amazing figures for a game that's not all shooty shooty (although they tried to bring elements of it in in Brotherhood) or massively casual.
They really need to sort out the engine though, the graphics are very nice and all, but it chugs along, tears and slows down terribly. I don't really care for the story, all the characters in the present are annoying as hell, I just enjoy the mechanics of jumping around all over the shop, but I think they should change it up a bit now. And 16th C London was probably as urban as 16th C Rome, but I personally wouldn't want it modern, and I certainly don't want AC to go down the ninja route.
Combat could also do with an overhaul and a lower limit on the amount of medicine you can carry, as I don't think I died once in AC2 or Brotherhood from being killed in battle.

like i said just after AssCreed2 was released i really hope the third title will be set in london where you play Jack the Ripper. He was secretly an assassin that specialised in hookers.
and it can't be set in fugal china as its not in desmonds DNA heritage. fools
ricflair on 15 Feb '11 said:
tru dat
buffig on 15 Feb '11 said:
I think you mean feudal japan. And I dont think Ubisoft will want to taint AC with a hooker killing game. More likely, if Jack the ripper did feature, that he would be a member of Abstergo. Also, why couldnt a member of Desmonds ancestry have memories of feudal japan? He wouldnt even need to be japanese he/she would only need to have memories of being there. So not actually "tru dat". Fools.
ricflair on 15 Feb '11 said:
Also tru dat.
But it'd be a stretch.

As long as it isn't released in November. Super November.

I'd be worried about this announcement were it not for the sterling quality of Brotherhood. It felt SO much more than an Assassins Creed II 1.5. I have confidence that they know what they're doing.
Would a modern day game be out of the question? Hmm....
Slacher007 on 15 Feb '11 said:
fugal? i don't remember saying that?
as for a modern day version. we kind of had that at the end of the second one.
although the advent of christianity in china could be a good story, but thats more like AssCreed 4
london plague was a way of the Templars mass killing, or the fire of london.
i should write for Ubisoft

Only 6 people died in the great fire of London
Slacher007 on 15 Feb '11 said:
or is that because the AssCreed foiled the templars!
HA

Thats what they wanted us to think...
Just like Guy Fawkes - he never existed. The Chinese fabricated him as a way to increase firework sales.
Those damn Chinese. Though they do make a delicious chow mein.

The two time frames I'm interested in are the French Revolution and Victorian England.

Game settings I' like to see for AC III are the French Revolution, the Napoleonic War ; or go further back in time, maybe ancient Greece or ancient Egypt...
bogoss on 20 Apr '11 said:
Also, I wish they could make less boring once you've finished the game. I mean like being able to replay the memories but having something new or at least different in it. I know they've made some progress in Brotherhood having 50% and 100% sync, but still, major improvement needs to be made.
