The latest issue of Official PlayStation magazine has suggested that the as yet unannounced Far Cry 3 may be released as soon as this year.
"Start taking the malaria medicine in preparation: Far Cry 3 could be arriving before the end of the year," the mag writes.

PC Gamer also said last August that development of the title was in "full swing" at Ubisoft Montreal.
It's only a matter of time by the sound of it.

I think I'd rather stick rusty screwdrivers in my eyes than play another Far Cry game...

The Bad in FC2:
The story
Getting shot by AI with x-ray vision
Every mission at other end of map. Easily the worst thing about the game.
Stamped missions
Nasty, stilted voice acting
Malaria attacks on a timer
Re-spawning bases - even after 2 minutes - and that they were stamped on the map - why?
Empty jungle - needed more random events... more fear, crocs, snakes etc
Stealth - just didn't work
The Good:
Hardcore, atmospheric Africa - brilliant
Explosives and fire
Gun-play
The in-game, on-the-fly map
Exploration (although not being able to climb the cliffs was madness) - and not enough to find out there
Diamond currency - but, again, a missed opportunity for more fun

Far cry 2 was pretty mediocre but the world was very good and they should have ask crytek to make the it again as ubisoft failed

Far Cry 2 had some magical moments and was a beautiful game. Watching a convoy so you knew their route and then running onto the road and planting explosives about 20 foot apart and having the first one next to a tree so you could mark it from a safe distance then waiting for the convoy to come back and blowing it all to hell was awesome, especially as you could just wait to a narrow pass and block it with a car and stand up top shooting them instead. The game did have a lot of different ways to play around with it, but it was awkward and broken in many ways.

Actually I think were it not for the ridiculous respawning within 2 minutes checkpoints this could have been the highlight of the game.
The thing I found the most unusual though were the distinct lack of civilian AI as you wondered round the map. It may have been a war zone but not everyone leaves these places.

I've never felt so disapointed and disgusted by a game than I was with Far Cry 2. Thankfully I got the money back that I paid.
Horrible, just horrible.

Nail. Head. Right On!
By far, my biggest cry (ahem) was the X-Ray Vision AI (which made stealth impossible) and the frikkin re-spawning bases!!!
Oh, and let's not forget the random road users who would manically swing their car/jeep at you! The whole world in FC2 was out to get you!

Even with the problems, I still enjoyed Far Cry 2. Not enough open world FPS out there.

Farcry 2 got very mixed opinions but for me it was an excellent game, suppose its just the kind of game i like playing, nice open world, fair bit of travelling, upgrading through the weapons and using various tactics to complete missions, and the atmosphere was excellent. i still play it now and again, i just find it fun to pick up and play. Can't wait to see what farcry 3 holds, hopefully they'll sort out some of the issues cos despite me loving farcry 2, i'd be blind if i couldn't see where a lot of people's complaints came from.
Although i still don't get why people complain so much about the missions being across the map, utilise the bus system and you barely need to travel much at all, and considering the game is a 50km square open world map, its probably the wrong game for you if you hate travelling around a bit.

Far Cry 2 is one of my top Favorite games! Yes it has flaws, Yes it's not for everyone "what game is?" I was dissapointed when I first started playing and didn't even fully understand how to play untill my second playthrough. But once I figured it out I loved it and am looking forward to beating it a 3rd time. I am confident that Ubisoft knows what it did right and they will correct the aspects that need to be improved. For some reason this game captured my imagination more then any game I've ever played.

farcry 2. it would have been nice to still explore after the end of the game. a common fault in many games.

I think if they had bothered fixing the bugs it's online part would have been one of the bests. I still did play a lot but the bugs really went on my nerves sometimes and I understand those who abandoned it and spread it's bad reputation. Too bad...

FarCry 2 has a lot of pro's and con's: PRO'S - 1. its own unique dialogue and gameplay 2. has an awesome map editor 3. just a little more laid back compared to other first person shooters CON'S - 1. the online wait time to start a game sucks (400 hours gameplay = 400 hours of wait time) 2. online hosts can stack his/her team by banning unwanted players 3. online if host quits no new host is assigned and all progress for that match is lost 4. the same limited maps for ranked games hasnt changed in 2 years! (why have a validation tool within editor if validated maps cant be used for ranked games).. i emailed ubisoft many times about adding maps and they rudely told me they will change the maps when THEY feel like it and never did.. also they finally added a fortunes pack for a fee that only offered 4 new maps that was only playable with those who purchased the add-on PATHETIC!! playing the same 10 maps for 3 years now SUCKS!!! If ubisoft cant get thier crap together in both fixing the loopholes with online issues and giving customers grief for requesting changes then why the fk do they think i'll spend another $60 for the new one? they better get thier heads outta thier butts !!!
