Market research firm Ipsos has labelled Gears of War 3 2011's most anticipated game.
The firm released a chart of the most anticipated titles of the year across the UK and US ranked by purchase intent, and Epic's game topped the bill in both markets.
Killzone 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Mass Effect 3 and Need for Speed: Shift 2 followed Gears 3 on the list of most anticipated titles in the UK.
"Based on recent data pulled from GamePlan UK, Sony appears to be well positioned in 2011; three of the top ten and five of the top 25 most anticipated titles are first-party PlayStation offerings," said Ipsos director of gaming insights Nick Williams.
"Microsoft stakes claim to the most anticipated title of the New Year, Epic Games' Gears of War 3, however; only two of the top 25 titles are first-party Xbox 360 titles. Nintendo is publishing the only Wii title in the top 25: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword."
A Gears of War 3 beta is likely to launch "sometime around April", ahead of the game's autumn release, developer Epic has said.

Not surprised Gears came out on top. Ask consumers who prodominately buy Microsoft's console and games which game they want and it comes out top. Real shocker.
However this aside it does seem to have a nice share between the two main consoles (don't count Wii - neither do other gamers by the look of it) and with this list compiled you can see we've got an awesome year of gaming ahead. Without Call of Duty by the look of it!

Really? I'm looking forward to it sure, but Deus Ex is definitely my most anticipated, and I absolutely cannot wait for Crysis 2 which comes up a close second most anticipated for me. Very much looking forward to Killzone 3 as well(not long to wait now)and Skyrim. Gears will be great of course, and I will definitely pick it up, but there are other games I want more.

gotta love these surveys, which in reality are useless. Doesnt divulge what their targeted group of people for surveying was,,was it ten year olds?, were they asking people predominantly interested in shooters? , was it males,was it mainly 360 users etc , it doesnt explain how they phrased the questions, how big the group was and so on
having done some research myself within field of sociology (only a level lol), it's fair to say that accurate data is almost non existent from surveys like this.

Mine are nearly all multiplat. Only exclusive I'm really excited about is Zelda, probably Gears next, but thats about it and Gears is quite a long way down the list.
Oh yeah, and Last Guardian if it's out in 2011. Overall too many sequels to games that didn't set my world alight.
