Those hackers have been at it again. This time after picking away at Marvel Vs Capcom 3's code, a quick-fingered code monkey has discovered that Capcom's upcoming Jill Valentine DLC is already on the game disc.
Jill has been announced as a Collectors Edition bonus in the US and as DLC alongside Shuma Gorath.

"I decrypted the PS3 version's executable file, changed some variables around, and replaced Viewtiful Joe with Jill. I then re-encrypted the executable and made a quick modification to the game-data MvC3 installs onto the PS3. (Namely, changed a parameter so that the game would treat the modified executable as though it were a patch.)
"After a bit more tweaking and poking at the game files, I successfully loaded her into the character select screen. (And yes, she's completely playable, albeit at the expense of losing Viewtiful Joe.)"
Apparently, although all of Jill's visual assets and moves are already on the game disc, her voice files aren't - so she's not totally complete. Still, this will annoy some planning to shell money out to 'download' her in the coming weeks.
Capcom producer, Motohide Eshiro has said the publisher hasn't ruled out future sequels in the Okami and God Hand series.

Practices like this should be illegal. Not surprised though Capcom did the exact same thing with the extra modes on Resi 5 and the Alt costumes in SFIV.

It' bad practice to do this s**t! I can understand developing content later on that you didn't have time to finish but this is just blatant profiteering!

I can't blame Capcom or any other dev that does this is people are dumb enough to buy the "dlc". Personally I won't be buying the DLC.

You know what? I'm not usually one to do this, but Capcom can seriously f**k off on this one!...

Have never really been a fan of theirs to begin with.

I love Capcom- I've grown up on the almost endless franchises they've created. They've had a crack at almost every genre- fighting, horror, action, RPG etc- I think they're my favourite Japanese developer... but this sh!t stinks.
Oh, and that's not Jill. Don't care what anyone says.

I'd suggest reading everything they found before going off on some Mail reader rant.

its only on disc cos its the pre-order deal at least its a playable character and not wank costumes that add nothing.
GlynCR on 17 Feb '11 said:
im not saying its justified having it on disc but its not another 5-10 hours of gameplay
i think we should all have a sit down and relax is all

Its the whole Bioshock 2 'multiplayer character key' fiasco again....in capcoms defense they did release this DLC with the CE which makes sense why it was on the disc but I suppose at the end of the day it is still wrong. I remember back in the day when DLC was only ever announced and released several months after the game's release. Now its just an easy excuse to exploit the gaming community.

and to sell more copys of the game surely
