Killzone 3 dev 'aggressively' monitoring PS3 jailbreak users

Patches will combat hacker activity, says studio

Killzone 3 studio Guerrilla has told CVG that it has a plan of action to tackle hackers who use a PS3 jailbreak to take advantage of their game.

Speaking to CVG, Guerilla producer Steven Ter Heide said that the recent spate of hacks seen on the system were "absolutely" a concern - and that the firm is working with Sony to "aggressively" monitor the perpetrators.

"The ability for one person to ruin people's games is not a good prospect obviously, so we're working with Sony on the moderation side," he said.

"We're looking at people misbehaving, being able to follow reports against those so that's all been taken care of - and we're working with Sony to see, even more aggressively, what kind of things are happening.

"But at the same time we have to step up as developers and say, 'OK what are the holes in our game, what is the data, can we analyse that and see where the problems might be?'

"We can look at the leaderboards and the stats that most people are playing with and say, 'This doesn't look right. Can we look into that and see what's happening?' That's the reality now, we have to keep patching the game to make sure we keep getting one over the hackers."

Killzone 3 was released in the US yesterday and will hit Europe on Friday. Our full interview with Stephen will be on the site very soon.

I can't stand all the PS3 hacks, I don't know what the point is. I doubt it will ruin the industry in anyway, but it's still just a bit annoying...

Quite amusing, that when I read the story, there's an ad at the bottom of the comments, advertising PS3 Break.

I wonder if they made PSN like xbox 60 ( I know they never would) where you pay to play online, if that would deter them ?

Sony should be able to find out the IP address of these f**kers and completely disabling these PS3, so they become expensive models instead of games consoles. I know this would open up a whole can of worms regarding lawsuits but i'm sick of f**king hackers ruining my online experience.
