A website with the URL 'findmakarov' has sprung up on the internet, suggesting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may be set for a reveal in four days' time.

The websites URL does have some significance though. 'Makarov' may be a reference to Vladimir Makarov, the leader of the Ultranationalists in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You remember him. The one from the airport.
The status and whereabouts of Makarov is one of Modern Warfare 2's loose ends - and seems a likely narrative thread for the third game to pick up.
Previous rumors have suggested Infinity Ward's next Modern Warfare title will be a prequel, with Ghost in the lead role. Is anyone else thinking "flashback"?

after black ops, it could also be a game about finding a 'Makarov' that some dude lost? Only time will tell.......

Surely people are tiring of this now. It feels like we're being given episodes rather than games they're so frequent.

There is obvioulsy going to be a COD or Modern Warfare coming this year, its actually pretty incredible that it hasnt been announced yet
!
Black Ops was the first one I didnt buy myself and ill be interested to see which Dev house is working on this one; Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Sledge Hammer?

Wow, i'm really, really shocked. Oh let me guess it be out out in early november, have a 5 hour campaign and somehow manage to become the best selling game of 2011.
MattyR95 on 25 Feb '11 said:
I wish they'd give it a rest, just for a year.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 25 Feb '11 said:
The one thing that i'm interested in is whether the two threads will ever converge. Treyarch have to catch up with the MW timeline eventually so why not make it one narrative universe.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but in a different context.

BO totally ruined the series for me. treyarch are a awful dev, sorry I'll stick with CoD4 as long as their are people playing that.

Boo hoo it is terrible that a games company has the nerve to release a title in a series every year
I can understand people hating Black Ops multiplayeron the PS3, it's shambolic, however that's hardly all Treyarchs fault, oh wait, what's that? It is Treyarchs fault and no amount of reality will change that.........
Change the f**king record.
Roll on MW3
ps3deo on 25 Feb '11 said:
I'm so stoke!!! I hope its not a prequel, though I wouldn't be upset cause Ghost is bad ass. Modern Warfare 3 website http://mwarfare3.com says the game is coming out November 11. What you guys think?
I hope we dont get a 5 second tease, and they actually release some information and stuff. I cant wait!! bye bye crappy black ops

Yes, it is terrible. Yes, it is shambolic and it's all treyarch's fault. No, i don't want to change the record. No, don't roll on MW3.

Oh, glowing green numbers and Makarov in the address, I wonder what it could mean?
I mean whats the point in this eh? They might as well kerb stomp you into a pavement that someone has written Modern Warfare 3 onto.

Yet another CoD release that changes f**k all about the far too basic game mechanic of "shoot eachother in the face, online", and gives what the developers believe to be a worthwhile campaign which in reality is some of the worst writing and s**ttiest gameplay that hasn't evolved at all since any other CoD from years ago. Got to admit, Activision sure know how to spend so little and get so much back in sales. Anyone hoping this next one is going to be up to the (overrated) standards of Modern Warfare are sure praying to the wrong people, as it sure is going to be difficult to see a team of people who have replaced those who made any of the former games, design something to the same standards. But yeah, like I said, even MW was overrated. IW pretty much showed how crap the series was going to be with MW2 being about the most blandest and uninvolving story going.

Did someone call the waaahmbulance? Seriously. I get that a lot of people don't like CoD anymore, but what I don't get is the incessant moaning about it. I'm not a fan of the Fifa games, but I'm not going to get up on my high horse each and every year they release another version. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on.
newsinthefield on 25 Feb '11 said:
If Activision keep producing Call of Duties at this rate, they'll have a game to release at every gaming event. Truly, Bobby and his boys will be living the dream...at the expense of quality. But who cares about that, right?

Nobody gives a crap (me included) but I reckong 90% of us will still buy it. Even if I think COD4 and MW2 are the worst two FPS games of all time (imho) its just how things are we always get sucked back in. So what can I say bring it on
gmcb007 on 25 Feb '11 said:
PS3 and Xbox fanboys are bad but COD fanboys are worse. Its not the fact that its just the game but the fact they spawn out a new one each year without any originality ,overcharge for very small DLC and for some godforsaken reason still get praised as 'must have games'. Unfortunatly this influences other developers to follow the same trend turning the games industry into hollywood.
Imaduck on 25 Feb '11 said:
This is probably going to, like Black Ops, leave me going "f**king hell, looks even worse than the last 1" then go online and see "WOW I SEED COD MW3 IT R BEST GAEM EVAR"!!2!2!!!11" everywhere, and then see that til release
Very_Silver_Ownz on 25 Feb '11 said:
its no surprise why games are so guff this gen when a run of the mill genre makes so much...isnt one shooter enough ? no you have to buy every single version and dont even give deserving games a chance.
the fps genre has killed this gen.
Imaduck on 26 Feb '11 said:
Hey! Silver, you know better than that!
Don't lump all shooters in with CoD. FPS have not killed this gen, it's still very much alive. CoD (only in it's current sprawling wallpaper form) is damaging things but it won't last. Bioshock, Half-Life 2...... ye FPS are the root of evil, never been a good 1
theblkwhsp on 26 Feb '11 said:
For once CoD is in danger of not making it into my must-buy-this-year list. I love CoD but even as a fan I'm getting weary of the short campaign, massive focus on multiplayer and the final nail in the coffin, map packs costing 25% of the game price.
For Modern Warfare 3 or whatever the hell it'll be called (I'd call it Call of Duty: Ghost Retreval), I'd like to see them explore new avenues such as different paths to take in levels like Deus Ex or elements of RPGs. Maybe build the perks into the campaign so you level up as you play. Anything to mix it up rather than spend two years creating a game that can be completed in one afternoon.
feeg86 on 26 Feb '11 said:
Why bother wasting yours and everyone else's time then following all the people that hate it that much, they end up buying it still.
I get my moneys worth out of CoD, or have done for the last 2 iterations. Got MW2 for 25 quid, sold it in October for 20 quid. Got Black Ops for 27 quid, will no doubt sell it for 20 quid later on in the year.
It's a good laugh with mates. I'll enjoy it when MW3 comes round, as will millions of others.
I'm not blind to the reasons you dislike it, but a few comments hating it, really isn't going to stop them.

The new title is confirmed on blindshotforfps.com:
Cod RIP: The Zombie resurection
This time whole campaign is based around zombie infested USA and you'll be playing as one trying to kill other humans and their leader, the banana republic dictator who's trying to nuke your zombie nation.
Very original,eh?

This is a really valid point. I'm the same and if I see a thread that mentions Fifa or Pro Evo, I avoid it like the plague because the topic doesn't interest me. I certainly don't post on there to let people know I'm not down with the Rooney (or however kids speak these days).
These people who claim to hate it so much and post to prove their point must be secretly in denial. They must love CoD so much they have to get their fix by talking about it all the tme, even in the negative! I've solved the riddle. CoD haters love CoD more than CoD fans do! (They'll hate that).
SEightman on 27 Feb '11 said:
Seriously, they're going to kill the Call of Duty series by releasing a new game every year. Why don't they at least release it every 2 years and a build a solid bug free game with some DLC's every 6 months or so? By the time it's reached it 20th Call of Duty series, it's going to be Call of Duty: Napoleon Empires 4. Bring on 7th kill steak cannon artillery and one shot gun powder rifles.
wasted-again on 27 Feb '11 said:
By "kill" you must mean they'll sell more copies than the last one and give their fans what they want, like extra content and innovative new perks and weapons? Or maybe you think they should give up the hundreds of millions in profit they'll make this year, and let their competition get a foot in the door, and maybe loose millions more next year too?
But hey, don't let reason and good old common sense get in the way, just you go on following the (cod-hating) heard.
