Dance Hero is new Activision franchise - report

Company not completely giving up on the music genre, it seems

Activision is reportedly gearing up to release a new franchise called Dance Hero.

While the publisher announced plans to axe its Guitar Hero unit last month in order to focus on more profitable areas of its business, Kotaku claims it's not yet ready to ditch the music genre completely.

Activision is said to have applied for a trademark for a game called Dance Hero back in 2008, and the site says it has learned that work on the title is now underway.

The company's apparently thinking of using tracks for the game including '2012' by Jay Sean, 'Out Of Space' by The Prodigy, 'The Way I Are' by Timbaland and 'Take Over Control' by Afrojack.

With the success of Ubisoft's Just Dance games and Harmonix's Dance Central, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see Activision jumping on the bandwagon with a rival offering.
