Sony is hopeful that the Suggested Retail Price of PS3 may be due another drop at some point in the near future.
The console's 160GB model currently sells for £250, whilst the 320GB SKU carries a £285 tag.
"PS3 has taken longer than PS2 to establish itself simply because of the cost of the product," he told the latest issue of OPM UK. "It's been a challenge for us to get the costs down over the years. The retail price has been more than we would have liked... Hopefully the price might still come down."
Maguire told OPM that PS3 has been built to be constantly "evolving" - which is "why we keep having upgrades".
Maguire added: "It gets adopted, then it gets redeveloped, so you keep on upgrading everything as you go along. I think that's part of its success and the longevity of it.
"I did think we were taking a big risk in PS3 by making it so heavy featured. As it turned out, I now think it was a stroke of genius, because it's given PS3 the ability to go on year after year."

I think the PS3 hasn't matched the PS2's success but I don't think it hasn't done a bad job in trying to though either. The PS2 brought a DVD player to my house for the first time and the PS3 brought a Blu-Ray player to my house for the first time. Both had/have amazing exclusives, it's my proffered controller (although I realise that is personnel preference and some people hate the PlayStation pad), I can play online for free, I can store all my videos, pictures and music on it just by plugging in a USB and clicking 'copy'. It has indeed become the swiss army knife of consoles, so how is it doing it wrong?
The only big things wrong with the PS3 is it's price which is still pretty steep all these years later. Also a few multi platform games perform worse on the PS3 than on any other console. Some people complain that you can't cross game chat but it is not a feature that I want.
I'm sorry I went on a bit of a rant but saying the PS3 has no titles is ludicrous, the PS3 has moved on since it's poor launch over 4 years ago.

The 360 controller is probably the best controller I've ever held minus the d-pad which is horrible.
Sony was stuck in last gen mode when making the DS3.
It was ok for the PS1 and PS2 but not for PS3 when shooters are more common.
The 360 controller was designed to be held in the hand...the DS3 was designed to look pretty and not much else.

the problem with the 360 pad is that the analogue sticks are in different places but yet there designed for use with a symetrical human design, your thumbs and hands! its not like your thumbs are in different places from your left to your right hand. If the 2 analogue sticks were both in the centre where your thumbs actually fall naturally(like the Dualshock) it would be the perfect pad. But i think the dualshock is alot more natual to use simply because the analgue sticks are in the right places. I know it's personal preference and comes down to hand size etc, but it's just too small for me. The triggers are too low (it's ruined driving games for me - Pacific Rift and Burnout especially, as I like to use the triggers), the sticks feel too loose. I think I prefer the 360 stick because I like the stick higher, on the DS3 if I end up controlling it with the mid point of my thumb (plus they're convex for some reason). The main controls for me are left stick and the buttons, so it's important they're in the right place, which for me is higher up the pad.
But build in battery is nice and the 360 dpad is awful. Terrible, but luckily it's used so seldomly, which is why I think it's best to have the most used buttons/sticks in the most comfortable place.

I don't get the symmetry thing, how do people play games that use the stick and face buttons then, as they're in different positions? My thumbs don't fall naturally in the centre, whn holding a pad my thumbs are pointing towards the screen when I play, having to pull them down is anything but natural. I don't think I've got bigger hands or different thumbs to the average human being. At least western human being!

Most PS3 games are upscaled to 1080p from 720p if you have a TV capable of displaying 1080p, ditto for the 360. If you want true HD gaming, buy a PC. Personally, I care more about the quality of the gameplay.

Bottom line; both consoles have their pros and cons, neither is better than the other and it's all about personal preference. Quit trying to convince PS3 players how wrong they are or vice versa; it's an absolute waste of time that could be spent more productively on, for instance, enjoying the console that you do own.

fair enough mate, I've held both and played with both (as my bro has a 360) and I think totally different, two of my mates have also sold their 360's, with one of the main reasons being the controller isn't as good as the DS3. That said I have alot of respect for the 360's kinect controller. They are miles ahead of Sony on that front.

The reason the 360 pad doesnt have symmetrical analogue sticks is because for the most part you want one thumb on the left stick and the other on the right 4 buttons (with fingers on triggers). You thumbs are therefore in symmetry but on one sick/four buttons.
I prefer the 360 pad in everything apart from Fifa and Tiger Woods. How strange is that!

Blu Ray was one of the main reasons I bought the PS3. Not only to watch High Definition films and TV shows but also games like God of War III and Metal Gear Solid 4 would of been on multiple discs if the PS3 still used the DVD format.
