Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS 'crammed with new things' - Iwata

You'll find out what they are closer to release, says boss

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has whetted the appetite of Nintendo fans by claiming that Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS will be packed with features that weren't in the original. However, it looks as though we'll have to wait until June to find out what these are.

Iwata was speaking about the legacy of the N64 classic in the latest Iwata Asks, when he said "Of course, the Nintendo 3DS version of Ocarina of Time is crammed with interesting things that weren't in the Nintendo 64 version, but we'll wait to talk about those [closer to] the release."

Many Nintendo fans rate Ocarina Of Time as the greatest Nintendo adventure ever and will be keen to discover how it has been improved.

If you've seen the latest Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D screenshots, you'll know that it will boast improved visuals. We also know that switching items will be easier thanks to the touch screen but other than that fans have been left guessing as to what these new "interesting things" are.

We won't have to wait too long to find out as The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time will be released in June.

Oddly, it is this remake of an old classic that is pulling me towards the 3DS. None of the other games are doing it for me at the moment, but a Zelda OOT remake.......... Mmmmmmmmmmm..........

    Nah...
    Greatest game ever...
Or possibly Resi 4. Either way it's in the top 2.

Its most unlikely, but I would love Majora's mask to be linked in with this. Some kinda of story explaining events between OOT and MM, would be cool.

Or maybe a new four swords... I can see it working now that WiFi and internet play are in use. Would make it much easier for people to join one another.

I would also love some new areas to explore, side quests (like the big goron sword) and maybe new items.

agreed marty, never mind best nintendo adventure. i think that's cvg's way of distancing it from the rest of the industry.

it's my best game of all time,by some distance.

as mentioned elsewhere the extras are reported to be the temple of light from ura zelda for the 64dd,for one.(older fans will know what i'm on about) maybe we'll finally get the triforce dungeon that was removed pre launch.

i've waited since '98 for that.

After a twelve year break I stuck OoT into the Wii over the weekend and I'm two dungeons in. Despite the gfx now looking dated (duh!) and a few gameplay mechanics that have been refined over the years (I'm really missing camera control on the second stick) it is without a shadow of a doubt one of gamings greatest ever achievements. Even after all these years it's probably my favourite game of all-time and this revisit is merely confirming it!

I still think those might be urban myths/hoaxes. I remember seeing a screenshot of the one with the triforce, but still remain unconvinced. I remember ridiculous claims you could get the triforce by winning the unwinnable race by going through a large sequence of events. it was obviously complete rubbish. I'd be surprised they completed enough of the game before they changed to cartridge format and would have the need to cut bits out. This is especially true as they had the chance to include it on the gamecube version (master quest or original).

Having said all that I wouldn't complain if I was wrong and they had all that to add! Would be nice if they made the castle town 3d however. As with others this is still my favourite game of all time and not just through rose-tinted glasses.

Sold. What took them so long, though? Why have they been hiding this away? For a long long time we were just presented with a straight-up remake of the original.

    I'm confused now.

As ste hicky said, the Ura Zelda content from the planned 64 DD game would be a dream come true.

I'm taking the word "crammed" with a pinch of salt.

I think they will withold that and just do a 3DS version of MM instead (he said crossing his fingers and toes).

nah man, they were real, just held back for the 64dd version. they were meant to be extras that linked in to the original cartridge release. 'hooks',miyamoto called them once.
