After hints, more hints, job ads and yes, even more hints, World of Warcraft house Blizzard has yet again teased a console version of Diablo III.
Echoing what the developer told CVG last August, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has told trade mag MCV it's still exploring the viability of bringing the game to consoles.

"We haven't made any decisions yet, but a lot us feel that if ever there was a Blizzard franchise that could play well as a console game, then that's probably it."
Last year, Blizzard's Jay Wilson told CVG the studio won't rule out the possibility that Diablo could end up on PS3 and Xbox 360 - even though it's not actively "pursuing" a multiplatform release.
"I'd be lying if I said we never talk about it, but it's not something we're pursuing right now," he said. "I do agree that of all our titles, Diablo would be the easiest to bring over - mainly because of the controls."
Now, just make up your minds chaps - eh?

They're hiring a couple of console developers to investigate the possibility of making a console version? Isnt that the same as me inviting Kin and Aggie round to investigate the feasibility of getting me undies clean? Theyre makin it or theyre not. Just get on with it!

You think they could have come up with a plan by now, they have been talking about this for at least 12 months. I see no reason not to do it. The PC version is nearly done, a console version is not going to impact on the PC version. With something like Move this game would work great on PS3. Do it and stop all the flip flopping on the subject. Diablo 2 is one of the best selling PC games of all time, Diablo 3 will sell on consoles.

These comments make no sodding sense. 'Oh we don't know if Diablo will work on a console' Here's an idea then. Go and buy a PS1 and a copy of you guessed it DIABLO! It's already been done. Likewise Starcraft and an N64 which worked surprisingly well, and with the likes of move and kinect could be the hardcore title both devices have been crying for. (kinect in particular)

Apparently Torchlight plays great on XBLA, haven't played it myself but I read an article that said the console version gives you more control since you're actually directly controlling the character and not just clicking where you want him to go and hoping waypoints get him there the fastest way. Instead of just clicking on enemies to attack, you're pressing the button, instead of just clicking on pictures to cast spells, you press the button etc. etc. You're just more directly involved in the action. Clicking on things has never seemed all that exciting to me.
Since Diablo is so similar it sounds to me like it would be much more enjoyable on a console, just as 99% of games are. Definitely would get this on PS3 if I had the choice. My friends will probably get it for PC though so unless there is cross-platform play between PC/PS3 I'll have to get the Mac version.

Correct me if I'm wrong, since I've never played a Diablo game, but it looks just like Baldur's Gate and Champions of Norath. Both of which worked perfectly on consoles last gen, and were some of my favorite games. I've been begging for those kinds of games to make it to this gen but it hasn't happened. So can someone please clarify, is Diablo anything like those games??

Congratulations sir. That is the first compelling coherent argument for my personal tastes to contemplate getting the console version of Diablo 3 (if it's released for the consoles). Why would I consider such a thing when I'm a PC man at heart? Why, because console games can still be bought second hand and will function. Also, I can sell a console game and recuperate some of my costs. Both of those options benefit me while sticking it to Activision. Now that's a "pure win" situation IMO!
That your argument regarding the controls also make sense only sweetens the deal. We shall have to wait and see.

I'm just hoping now that it will have cross-platform play for PS3 and PC. Maybe Sony will be smart and let cross-platform play unlike Microsoft. Portal 2 is going to have cross-platform coop, so why not Diablo 3?

Talk about ignorant. First you say that you have "read" that Torchlight plays so much better on consoles, which you have accepted as fact despite not even playing it for yourself. Then you show your true ignorance by making the claim that 99% of games are better on consoles. Have you ever even played games on a real gaming rig before? So having better graphics and more options for peripherals PLUS the exact same gaming experience is a bad thing? What a bunch of rambling, presumptuous nonsense and a complete waste of space. Do you just like listening to yourself type, regardless of the baseless nonsense you are creating?
Deal with facts: playing a game like this will ALWAYS be more precise with m+k, and will ALWAYS be a stripped down experience with a controller... and how many people have their Ps3 hooked up at a desk? This is one genre that the console kiddies won't be taking away from PC gamers any time soon. Not that I care, I'm not really one for grinding.

No. There is no way that motion controls are precise enough and there aren't enough buttons available. This hasn't got past the "discussion" phase yet with good reason.

That comment is so full of fail its not even funny.
Just for the record the PSone version of Diablo wasn't a patch on the PC original.
