PS3 Crysis 2 matches 360 version - Crytek

'No big difference' between platforms, dev says after contrasting previews

Crysis 2 executive producer Nathan Camarillo has denied reports that there's a gulf in quality between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Crysis 2, which launches next week.

Asked by the PlayStation Blog about some negative preview write-ups of the PS3 edition, the developer said: "I've gone on the record saying that if you stick PS3 and 360 side by side I would challenge anyone to find any meaningful difference. I don't see it at all."

Earlier this month, the internet was ablaze with reports criticising an "underwhelming" PS3 build of Crysis 2, which reportedly suffered from a choppy framerate. Things didn't sound too rosy, although PSM3 magazine begged to differ with the view that there was any discrepancy between the PS3 and 360 versions.

Camarillo also told the PS Blog that both console versions were a good match for the PC edition.

"It's the core of CryEngine 3 that's able to scale appropriately and we can adjust per platform exactly what we want to get out of it. We want the exact same gameplay experience, the same fun, the same intensity, all the same visual information that you need to understand and play the game appropriately. It's just a lot of under the hood magic."
