Apple appears to have foiled an iPad 2 jailbreak that arrived just three days after the device's launch in the US.
A hacker known as 'Comex' boasted shortly after the iPad 2 launch, "I Would've had it yesterday if I didn't have to spend 1.5 days looking for a replacement exploit", before posting a video showing a white iPad 2 running Cydia, an app used to download other iOS devices.
However, now it looks like the party's over,as a quick update from Apple in the iOS 4.3.1 firmware update has patched the exploit.
Comex wrote on Twitter yesterday: "It stayed there from 4.0.2 through 4.3, but was magically found in time for 4.3.1." But the hacker later added "I don't think you'll be waiting long" before a stable jailbreak for 4.3 arrives. And so th egame of cat and mouse begins.
