God of War going online?

Sony's Santa Monica Studio on the lookout for a senior online programmer

Sony Computer Entertainment America's Santa Monica Studio, developer of the God of War series, is searching for a senior online programmer.

With the God of War trilogy having been a single player-only experience, the job advert (via Gamasutra) has led to speculation that we might finally see some Kratos multiplayer action. That or the studio's just working on a different IP with an online element.

The job listing in question reads: "Join the God of War team! Be a part of the most exciting and innovating computer entertainment in North America."

While last year's God of War 3 concluded a trilogy, Santa Monica Studio has said it's "not the end" for the hugely popular PlayStation franchise.

Will there be a God of War 4? Will we get a series reboot set during a different historical period and starring a different lead character? An online God of War? God of War NGP. All questions we're unlikely to get answers to for some time yet, unfortunately, but we'd guess yes to at least two of them.
