Valve has revealed more details of Portal 2's co-op mode including the fact that the co-op version will happen after the single-player story has finished - and they also dropped a subtle hint that Portal 3 is almost a certainty.
In a wide ranging interview with Funambulism.com, Portal 2 chief writers Erik Wolpaw and Chet Faliszek revealed that the game's co-op mode 'ties into the main story of the game' and that the co-op game will happen after the single player has been completed...although you could actually start playing co-op from the off if you really want to.

Wolpaw also revealed that "You know that Aperture science isn't going to get blown off the face of the earth by the end of Portal 2."
Perhaps we're reading too much into that, but it certainly means that we haven't seen the end of Portal's main environment and if Aperture Science isn't going anywhere, then it could also form the setting for Portal 3 which can only be a good thing.
Don't forget if you want more Portal 2 goodness, our colleagues over on Games Radar have constructed a special Portal 2 Launch Centre as the countdown to Portal 2's release gets underway, so go hit them up if you want more Portal 2 goodness.

Just read that interview, its pretty good. I have to say, I have no beef with Steven Merchant as Wheatley like some of my friends do, but Richard Ayoade as him might have been excellent too!

At the end of last year Portal 2 seemed to me like it was going to be a really great little game to tide me over until the big guns come out at the end of the summer. But in the space of a couple of months it's turned into one of, if not my most anticipated title of this year.
Perfect release time too, what with all the bank holidays.
That is one hell of a good shout!

I have thought exactly the same thing. I wasn't even going to bother with it day 1, but have completley changed my mind. Dont know what console to get it for though, I had the last one on 360, but isn't there Steam support on PS3?
Also glad someone else watched Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.

I'd like to get it on the PS3 for Steamworks, but the people I'm likely to play co-op with will get it for the 360, so that's what I'll go for. Plus I love dem cheevos!

Dark Place was amazing. If you haven't, get the DVD, I thought the two collections of interviews were even funnier! Although I'm sure they're probably on youtube somewhere.
Unless we start to see something about the PS3 version being massively inferior to the 360 version, I'm sticking with my PS3 preorder. Actually, considering I get the PC version too, I'm going to stick with the PS3 version as my old PC and budget graphics card can still run anything using Source pretty easily.
Or unless you've got hardly no friends on PC/PS3 who are buying it, as you'll miss out on the co-op.

For Garth Marenghi's Darkplace lovers: it's also on 4OD.com permanently:

Excellent show, still play the odd episode once in a while if I need some chuckles...

Do you not get a digital copy of the game for PC or Mac with the PS3 Steamworks version too, or is it just the cloud based save games that would work?
Darkplace is a proper gem. Thinking about it harder, the two Might Boosh chaps are in it too aren't they. Nothing beats that funeral for Marenghi's pal who comes back and they have to shoot him. All I can see is Thornton Reed firing that shotgun for no reason.
' I have never exploded. But, I know what it would be like. Don't ask me how, I just know. I've always... just known.'

Nah, the best thing about that was the gravestones waving around in the wind!

Yeah, you get the steamworks version, which I'm pretty sure means if you have the PS3 version tied to your steam account on the PS3, you can play it on your steam account on PC or Mac. I'm not sure how this is going to work, as I could see people getting it on PS3, registering on their PC/Mac and then just flogging the PS3 copy. I'm sure this game is going to have some kind of activation code, I can't see how they can get around it any other way.
And Julian Barratt was the church padré from 'The Creeping Moss...' and Noel Fielding was the monkey in 'Apes of Wrath'. Matthew Holness was the IT guy SImon in The Office.
'Here... let me cut up your pork pie...'

By far my favourite bit in the whole of Dark Place was Dean Learner getting confused with his lines when playing Reed:
*phone rings*
*picks up the phone*
"Yes?"
*puts phone down*
*looks at phone*
"Good....byyyye"

I'm totally digging out the DVD later tonight. My girlfriend is out tonight, so thats fine as last time I had it on when she was home, she was confused and afraid. I think she thought it was was supposed to be serious. I'm unsure.
I remember him as the IT guy, telling Gareth about go-karting;
'Oi! no professionals'
'I'm not'
'Well you should be'
Thinking I might go for PS3 version now. Hmmm.

I've pre-ordered the PS3 version as the PS3 version comes bundled with an activation code for the PC version, I'll be playing co-op on the PC with my bro sat next to me on the PS3.
Play.com aren't advertising the fact that the PS3 version will also come bundled with the PC version, I assume they don't want people to know that, so that if they've found out about the cross platform play they might also unnecessarily buy the PC version.
altitude2k on 31 Mar '11 said:
The PS3 version is more expensive than the PC version, though. There's not going to be very many people who will buy both, so you may as well get those people thinking about getting the PC version to get the PS3 version instead (if they've got a PS3).
ricflair on 31 Mar '11 said:
Not sure that will work. As I think in order to get the PC version, you have to sign up to Steamworks on the PS3 and you'll need to log into Steam on the PS3 to play it and Steam doesn't let you log in in two locations.

But i'm sure a lot of people will buy the ps3 version, get the PC version for their steam account then trade in Portal 2 the day after for a lot of cash at CEX. Basically meaning portal 2 for ps3 will be traded in, a hell of a lot
