Nintendo might not have been showing Wii the same love as the DS platform recently, but UK marketing manager James Honeywell has told CVG there's plenty for owners of the home console to look forward to.
Speaking in a 3DS-focused interview published on the site today, he addressed a slowdown in Wii sales over the past couple of years, and said the company plans to deliver "some fantastic new experiences" for the UK's leading home system.

"But obviously as you reach a certain level things perhaps might slow down, but again we've got a really strong line-up, we're really proud with what we've achieved in getting it into so many homes, and we've have a strong campaign for promotion this year and think it will continue as a strong viable format."
Honeywell also suggested Wii will play a central role in Nintendo's E3 plans.
"I guess we haven't made any announcements recently because we've been concentrating on the 3DS launch, but there are still lots of games to come. I'm sure you'll see at this year's E3. For anybody who has a Wii, they can rest assured that we'll be bringing some fantastic new experiences to them."

i'd doubt this if they didn't announce a european release for xenoblade this morning. http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/gam ... 32583.html (thx to jaster for the link)
now i know different i'm also fully expecting a western last story announcement around e3.
so that's hotd: overkill2,zelda,xenoblade,dragon quest X,earth seeker, zangeki no reginleiv and a possible western the last story release. i've heard a rumour that mw2 is hitting the wii for xmas as well (handled by treyarch).
now how about porting fatal frame/project zero IV over and letting everyone see what a proper horror game is rather than pretenders like dead space and resi 5?
the wii is not dead just yet.

This fella's hands are tied really. I mean, he probably doesn't know what's going on development-wise in Kyoto. He didn't mention anything specific about these 'fantastic experiences' either, so the comments are pretty much worthless in my eyes.

I thought overkill 2 was just a rumour. You are also forgetting Pikmin 3 (so long as it doesn't turn into pikmin 3ds), Skyward Sword and the conduit 2. Couldn't care less about a port of mw2 IMO the thing that makes the wii great is all the exclusives.

I agree. The UK marketing director isn't exactly a big cheese and he's hardly going to say that there's nothing he knows of coming is he?!?
Although maybe he's friends with Miyamoto on Facebook?

i'll class overkill2 as a goer until it's denied. the first is one of my favourite wii games available.
mentioned zelda. the conduit 2 has a long way to go to redeem the bland taste of the first.
pikmin 3? i said 2 years back that i thought it would never happen on the wii and i'll stick by it man. pikmin 3ds all the way,it's a cert. touch screen pikmin gathering? sounds perfect. use the mic to whistle them over? the more i think about it the more it fits the 3ds imo man.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 31 Mar '11 said:
I liked the Conduit it wasn't perfect but it definately had a lot of potential.
See what you mean with pikmin too. Now to scrape together the cash to get a 3ds around about the time Ocarina of time orr Phoenix Wright vs LAyton comes out over here. So that's either by June or when hell freezes over.

Once, when I was small, I found a shell. I thought the shell may have contained a small creature, or perhaps even a hidden world, or maybe the shell would share with me the sound of the ocean when held to my ear, but alas, no, the shell was empty.
ste hicky on 31 Mar '11 said:
...so,as was the way with the masses at the time,i threw the shell away only for it to deliver more than i ever wanted in my absence. this made me bitter.

"Fantastic new experience on the Wii! Your experience of boredom will soon shift to an experience of frustration and puzzlement."
ste hicky on 31 Mar '11 said:
fixed that for you there sir.
almanac2015 on 31 Mar '11 said:
And fixed again.
Personally I preferred my first one however.
How about...
"Fantastic new experience on the Wii! Play Skyward Sword and be completely oblivious of the fun people are having on Skyrim!"

There's no doubt that when they're on top of their game, Nintendo make the best games going. In my opinion natch.
And that's all I've got to say about that.
ste hicky on 31 Mar '11 said:
defensive? nah,it was joke.
i'll have skyrim too,so there's little for me to be defensive about.
maybe i could say"play xenoblade, dragon quest X and the last story to get rid of the nasty FFXIII taste and lack of quality jrpg's on the hd formats"
i've already got the last story,i'll have xenoblade soon. oh,and dragon quest X as well.
doubt i'll be bored with those 3 tbh.
oh let's not forget all 3 mass effects
,skyrim,etc... as well.

Honestly, I hope you enjoy the games you mentioned.
I'm just not a big fan of the Wii, hence my love of mocking it. House of the Dead by the way...
I'll also agree JRPG's on the HDS formats are crap. But I'll say JRPG's are crap in general, it's a genre I haven't enjoyed in a long time.
ste hicky on 31 Mar '11 said:
hotd: overkill is class, don't even f*cking go there.
nah seriously, just like extraction, the ps3 crowd would be delighted if it was announced for move.
i'm sure you'd agree.
i can see why you don't enjoy jrpg's too much, all the best ones are elsewhere. try lost odyssey or the last story.
they are 2 of the best ive played since FFIX. tls in particular embarrasses any hd rpg i've played this gen and is quite forward thinking in terms of design.
almanac2015 on 31 Mar '11 said:
House of the Dead is good. But it's not excellent.
A general rule I'll follow when it comes to the PS3 - if it is made for Move...I'll normally avoid it.
As for Extraction, I have never played a Dead Space game (want to though), so though the PS3 crowd might love it on the PS3, it would go over my head.
ste hicky on 31 Mar '11 said:
never played a ds? well ds1 is good,2 isn't as good and extraction is quite inventive within it's design framework. however, the series is completely eclipsed in the horror stakes by fatal frame IV on the,you guessed it,wii.
to each his own on hotd,i adored it. does anything else really matter than your own relative perspective when it comes to that? nah.
i had brilliant fun in both single player with 2 wiimotes and multi player with friends and it was laugh out loud funny at times. i still put it on now and would be really happy with a sequel.
so,for me,it was excellent.
i do,however, wonder if you've played it given your dislike of the format but that's neither here nor there.
peace.
btw, extraction has already been ported to the ps3 with ds2. after slamming it when it was wii only, the ps3 firm were all of a sudden excited....by a wii game. that made me lol tbh.
it'd be the same with overkill,i'm sure.

Xenoblade - everything you thought FFXIII would be, and back on Nintendo!!
almanac2015 on 31 Mar '11 said:
Quite possibly. It would be the same if Halo came to the PS3. Or Gears of War. Or if MGS4 went to the 360...and so on. I'd like to think I have (on the whole) grown out of that sort of behaviour though I do enjoy bashing Nintendo games. Not the biggest motion-control fan.
I have played House of the Dead by the way. Just to clear that up.
I may have largely given up on the Wii but I know people who haven't.

Yeeeeaahhh.... now I'm a big Nintendo fan but theyre really not doing much to keep me interested in whats happening with the Wii. I just got a 3DS which is fantastic and I feel that theyre doing what they always do when they launch a new handheld focus on that and phase out of the home console to bring in something new. What bugs me is the fact that theres so many good games coming to the 3DS both visually and gameplay wise and all the Wii seems to get is shoddy ports. Dont get me wrong I'm looking forward to The Conduit 2, Zelda and The Last Story if that gets released, but thats about all there is. Heres an idea Nintendo a new Starfox and F Zero game.

So so bitter aren't you.
That makes it all the more pathetic.
You may of got bored of the wii but I got bored easily with the same old output on the HD consoles but I don't go mocking said consoles for it & the Skyrim comment was just so one track minded as the people playing Skyrim can be just as oblivious to the fun had with Skyward Sword.
I've seen you in many a Nintendo Thread spouting the same old stuff, change the record please.
