THQ has laid off over 30 staff after cutbacks at Homefront developer Kaos and the Red Faction team at Volition.
Speaking with Gamasutra, a THQ rep confirmed: "We have had to let go of 16 employees at Volition, our studio in Champaign, Illinois," explaining, "We must adjust our workforce to fit the studio's current needs, which is a relatively common occurrence in the game development industry."
The studio is currently working on Saints Row: The Third and Red Faction: Armageddon, the latter of which was recently confirmed for a June 3 UK release.
The rep also confirmed that 17 workers at Kaos were let go. "Kaos has a dedicated team in place that will continue to support Homefront with an ongoing, robust DLC and content plan, as well as working on pre-production for future games," they said.
"Steps are being taken to ensure team members affected by the transition are treated with appropriate concern," they said, later adding, "We have made changes to ensure that the team size aligns to the current stages of internal product development."
Kaos had just release FPS game Homefront, which has sold over a million copies since launch.
