The gears of Official PlayStation Magazine's rumour machine have been turning and according to the mag a third game in BioWare's fantasy role-playing series Dragon Age is currently in production, complete with an all-new multiplayer mode.
The rumor comes from the 'Inside whispers' section of the latest issue of OPM, which says: "More elf sexy time! Dragon Age 3 is on the way, with an added multiplayer component".

However, the idea of multiplayer in the next Dragon Age is treading new ground for the series and BioWare as a developer. Both the Mass Effect series and Dragon Age have not yet had any sort of multiplayer, but the studio has expressed an interest in incorporating multiplayer in the future BioWare titles.
Co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka has said how "proud" the studio is of latest title, Dragon Age 2.

Sigh, and with that, DA is dead to me, atleast it had a good but short run.

Well I only hope thats an indication that the Mass Effect franchise has taken the opposite direction in making the third instalment more plot-driven with no multiplayer...
Proper computer role playing games and adventures are a SINGLE PLAYER experience. Shooters are alright multiplayer, third person actioners can be innovative in a TOTALLY SEPARATE online game (as with Red Dead and Assassins Creed) why the hell are Bioware messing around with this and a possible Mass Effect MMO?
Remains to be seen if they can make it work with a story or not, but until TOR makes me eat my words I'll view this as bad news...

I'm calling bulls**t.
The Mass Effect team have said ME3 will have no multiplayer, I'm saying DA3 won't either.
It wouldn't work, it makes no sense and the rumours have no basis.

Gaming rumours are starting to replicate the pathetic fantasy kack that football gets. Even the BBC prints that kind of "what can I make up today" bulls**t.
Pathetic!!

This game screams for co-op. Live with that

Why do developers (or publishers more like) insist that every bloody game they make has to have a multiplayer mode? Just leave it be!

I would not even bother making DA3 IMO DA2 was far inferior to DA. What had potential for a good franchise has turned out to be a load of rubbish. Oh well, there is only one worthwhile RPG, so bring on 11th Nov

i didn't mind Dragon Age Origins the first time round(my opinion was it was good but not great),but i tried playing it again recently and it was boring as hell and because of this playthru i postponed getting Dragon Age 2...and now people are saying DA2 is worse than DA:O then i may postpone even longer

Damn them adding a MP compenent to a D&D fantasy game!! it will ruin it. Oh wait, neverwinter nights.... bad feeling you all read "DEATHMATCH" instead of multiplayer
Moribundman on 11 Apr '11 said:
The multiplayer element of Neverwinter Nights was utter s**te compared to Baldurs Gate, Planescape:Torment or even Icewind Dale. It reduced the single player to an impersonal cut and paste for me... You could ruin the plot by having access to all the resources in multiplayer and you just recognised all the plot locations from the cut and paste in the level creation kit meaning nothing seemed epic or original.
Ironically Dragon Age 2 seems to have taken the DA franchise even further in that direction with its IDENTICAL caves and warehouses - not even taking time to rearrange them or move scenery elements to give the impression of a different room like the cargo ships and mines in Mass Effect 1...
Maker help DA3...

Awww come on, you cannot be serious. This will fail in multiplayer terms. Unless they lob 'Call of Duty: Dragon Age' onto the front cover. Stick to single player only bioware

They want to fu*k this franchise up, don't they.

I Like that.. CoD : Dragon Age Warfare.. Imagine the perks.. Running around seducing elf's sounds like a great game. Zelda's Link would approve.

I can't believe everyone slags off DA 2 yet praises crap like crysis 2
dragonjim on 11 Apr '11 said:
so the elder scrolls has more in depth combat than Dragon Age,sure hitting a rat with a club is far more more complex than organising a party during a battle.
KMakawa on 11 Apr '11 said:
I agree, entirely

I don't think even bioware would do this... would they?
I wouldn't get any more of there games if they did! (After ME3 of course
)
griffa94 on 11 Apr '11 said:
agree with you there (not sure about crysis 2 still havent played it)
they said dragon age 2 was going to be setting the origins of your character and it did that perfectly even though it did suffer from a lack of exploration and boring enemies

Honestly, I wouldn't mind trying my party against other gamer's parties. I've always wondered how my team stacks up to other peoples.
The_KFD_Case on 12 Apr '11 said:
Pretty much this. I have been encouraged by recent announcements by BioWare in relation to ME3, yet DA2 has been the first BioWare game I've not been spellbound by - I haven't even finished it yet and I started playing the other week! If DA3 takes after DA2 as opposed to DA1, then I'm not sure I'll bother purchasing it; certainly not at full price upon release.
headmate on 12 Apr '11 said:
you are missing my point. Dragon Age is not open world, all Elder Scrolls have been. Art and Graphics direction is poor at best. Every time you enter a new area; i.e. building; the environment is exactly the same, no real inspiration has been applied. Storyline is a little boring. Sure DA has a good combat system, but to me even that is not implemented very well. Plus it doesn't suck you in to the world as much as Elder Scrolls. If all you want from a game is combat, then you are welcome to you average DA game!
puddytat777 on 17 Apr '11 said:
I really don't want to see DA3 in a multi player online format. The journey will be over for me. I was a little disappointed with the Dragon Age 2. The characters did not have the same depth of the original dragon age. Sure the choices were tough, but come on! Biographer has obviously set the stage for a Dragon Age 3. I just hope it is not a disappointment. Scenes were too much the same, mostly a no-win game that you don't feel good about winning! Please do better with DA3!!

Nooooo, please maker help us [b]
irealy hope this Multiplayer crap will not happen
and it just stays what it is , a rumor
but on the other hand i sure hope BW/EA will go back to their DA:O roots with DA3
and iam hoping they will take their time with DA3
i ,for one would be happy to wait 2 or more years for a Brilliant follow up to Origins
while DA2 isn't a bad game, (sure it has it's flaws) but it isn't a true sequel to DA more like a spin-off
but this is just my of coffee

Multiplayer, multiplayer, multiplayer!!! Its the catch cry of the video games industry. I don't know about anybody else, but I love my RPGs and the last thing I want to do is come home from work and have to compete against other people. I wanna sit and enjoy my game on my own in peace.
DAO was a joy, DA2 was a total dud, if they make DA3 a multiplayer, I for one won't be parting with any of my hard earned cash for it.
