Sony confirms E3 press briefing for June 6

Platform holder kicks off the E3 chaos countdown

Sony has confirmed that it will hold its pre-E3 press briefing on June 6, at 5PM PT (June 7, 1am UK time) at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. NGP, Sony. Spill it.

The invite sent to press offers absolutely no further information on what will be discussed at the presentation, and its starry night sky background doesn't appear to throw us any Apple-like hints, either.

Everyone and their mums will be expecting Sony to open its NGP/PSP2 vault and finally spill some official details, such as the final name (because we're tired of this 'NGP' fluff already) and, if we're lucky, a release date and launch line up.

That would put a greatly appreciated end to rife rumours surrounding such topics, which have suggested the new portable could be out in November (we doubt that somehow) and may be priced between $250 and $350.

We also hope to see more of PS3's late 2011/early 2012 line-up (The Last Guardian, anyone?) and, of course, a few surprises to keep us on our toes.

E3 will take place from June 7 to June 9 at the usual LA Convention Center spot.
