Nintendo is to cut the North American price of the Wii by 25 percent to $150 on May 15.
That's according to a "trusted" Engadget source, who claims the platform holder won't wait until E3 the following month to make the announcement.
"The Wii has a long life in front of it," the exec said. "We're still sitting at $199. There are a variety of marketing tools at our disposal."

AHA! Price drop in May,E3 in June and a none existant summer games line-up for Wii. I will bet 1 whole English penny a new Ninty home console is not only announced at E3 but will be on the shelves in time for Christmas.

So how does this affect UK prices? If there's a decent price cut here then I'd get one. Had one before but sold to raise funds and never replaced. Gutted as I was half way through RE4 and just starting Super Mario Galaxy when I had to sell! So for me it would be like a whole new games library opening up again. Still...saving pennies for NGP/PSP2, that looks like a nice piece of kit, though big problem if its priced more than an Xbox or PS3. Tried 3DS in store and nice as a novelty, but needs a far more impressive games library to tempt me further.

Eh. I suppose market value is highly subjective (as opposed to real-term value). I could be mistaken, yet I do think the Wii bandwagon is running out of steam for good this time.

I bought mine a year ago, played it for like a week then it collected dust, about 2 months ago i decided i would install homebrew on it, i play it every now and then but tbh there are no good games anymore, so even with the price cut i wouldn't even pay 100 dollars for it.

Honestly, I was shocked to find they were still selling for over £100. I was under the impression they were 40-80 max, that's also the max I would pay for one. This isn't a "hur dur dis r betr" thing, but ... the other consoles are worth th price of the hardware, as in, you're getting quality bits for such a low price really. In comparison, the Wii is an absolute rip-off. Please don't hang me, I didn't choose the hardware.
