Rockstar is one of the many major publishers secretly working on Wii 2 titles, claims the latest rumour report from French site 01.net.
According to the site, which last week released supposed tech specs and further controller details for the new console, Nintendo's specifically targeted Rockstar as part of its campaign to 'win back' the hardcore audience.
The French site previously released Sony's NGP specs long before the official announcement.
Last week CVG revealed that the next Nintendo console's controller will feature a built-in high-resolution screen.

I'd be surprised about this, people at Rockstar North are supposedly still not over what happened with Nintendo back on the N64 with Body Harvest when they were DMA Design.

apparently man,the fact that these folks are the ones to have leaked rumours has added weight to it. i think they leaked the psp2/ngp not too long ago too.

Assuming the Wii2 (or Nintendo 6) is announced at E3 this year, they will not reveal full specs and control details until the end of the year. I doubt we will see the machine launch until mid to late 2012.
The hardware will likely be the similar to the Xbox 360, which will have a few years life left in it, so I see a lot of multiplat games being released for the N6, which will make the console more viable for people who want both types of games, without having to buy 2 consoles.

I doubt GTA5 would be an exclusive, but they could have a spin off full exclusive similar to the Chinatown Wars deal.
i.e. Full exclusive if it sells a certain target. If not, R* would be free to recoup costs be releasing it on other platforms.

Look at the wii for example its slightly more powerful than a gamecube but if it was on par with the 360 and ps3 the wii would have had games like GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption. I remeber Nintendo saying that the big mistake with the Wii was not having enough power as this is what put some developers off.
I play the 360 more than i do with the ps3 but to say the xbox has years left in it is just to long. The 360 has been out now for over 5 years and like the developers of battlefield 3 said the xbox has reach its limit in what it can.
Microsoft want the 360 to last to 2015 that will be like 10 years of the same hardware in my opinion kinect does not make the 360 add more lifespan.
We will just have to wait for the official announcement of the Wii 2 and see what the games will look like on it
ahh but when a few week later sony will announce ps4 like they did with psp 2 when nintendo showed the 3ds :p

The whole notion that R* are holding a grudge is ridiculous! So, if this Wii 2 is real, (I cannot confirm or deny), then I am sure that if up to scratch, R* will make games for it.
And someone said a new Nintendo machine would not be as powerful as the current next gen consoles out.. erm.. are you sure? The next Nintendo machine will of course be more powerful than the PS3 and 360. I put my house on it....

As their (Nintendo) next console would look like it has gained an advantage in the power stakes.

I agree. Forget RDR and GTA IV. Bully is the best Rockstar game since San Andreas.

I think N should release their next console with better specs than current gen consoles of course. But at the same time, I feel that PC hardware is being utilised feebly. Devs should be eeking out so much more performance on PC right now which shows when you see games like Crysis 2 looking very very good against it's PC counterpart. So with that in mind, does Nintendo really need to go that extra mile spec wise... Probably because consoles are the darling of gaming and more profitable nowadays. Us PC owners seem to be getting shafted nowadays. Room for improvement, as my maths teacher would say.

The only timed exclusive though would be a later release on the Wii2. Low instal based and new system would never be interesting and too much of a gamble for any big 3rd party IP.
Would it look better on Wii2, probably not. They will likely port it and not used to working on it or the engine, I'd guess it would be as good as, but not better. Look at 360 ports to PS3 in the first year.
I'd imagine it will be a similar case for Wii2 in the beginning.

Chances are, if these rumours are true, there are other projects that might make it as hardware beyond the Wii2 or N6 or whatever you want to call it.
The same goes for Sony, Apple, MS.. They'll all have models and circuit mock ups of future hardware or at least ideas to see what's what.
My point is, the Wii2 may have even started life around the time of the N64 or the Game Cube, the Wii may have been a stop gap (and probably was given the buoyancy of the company at the time - it was a dramatic re branding) before this next machine is released.
We simply don't and probably won't, know.
