Capcom producer Masachika Kawata has reaffirmed that the next entry in the Resident Evil series will see a complete franchise overhaul.
Speaking to Spanish site MarcaPlayer, Kawata-san promised that while the next entry in the series will be a "complete renovation," it won't forget the importance of previous entries.
"The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can't forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise," he said.
The Resi 5 producer's comments echo those of fellow Capcom man Jun Takeuchi, who confirmed back in 2009 that the next instalment in the Resident Evil series will be a full franchise reboot.
Departed series creator Shinji Mikami also who told Official PlayStation Magazine: "I think Resident Evil 5 doesn't need to change the series, but Resident Evil 6 will have to reinvent the series with another full model change or else it won't be able to keep on going."
