Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Network is down in both Europe and the US.
The EU PlayStation Blog tweeted the following message: "PSN is currently down for maintenance. We'll update you with timeframes as soon as we can."
The PlayStation Network was reportedly attacked by hactivist group Anonymous earlier this month with the group releasing a statement soon after saying that it had suspended that line of attack.
'Maintenance' is cited by the US as what's causing the PSN disruption. Let us know if you're experience problems logging on.

I'm saying it's either maintenance for the home update, maintenance so steam is running on Portal 2 alright, or somebody's forgot to pay the electric bill.

Cross Game chat and slow downloads are the only PSN minus points but games(especially exclusives)often run better and with more players.

People may moan about Xbox Live being a subscription service but ensures two things, it works and it works well, because if it doesn't then people stop paying for it and Microsoft have a dwindling revenue stream on their hands.
