Hulu Plus for Xbox 360 just days away - report

OXM scan reportedly confirmed video streaming service for Friday

The Hulu Plus premium video streaming service will finally arrive on Xbox 360 this Friday if a new report is accurate.

A scan of what's claimed to be the next issue of the Official Xbox Magazine pins the service for release in just four days, April 29. The service costs $7.99 and will only be available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

Hulu hit PS3 almost a year ago, offering access to thousands of TV shows new and old.

To promote the service on Xbox, MS will apparently be hosting a competition in US, with Xbox owners entering by firing up Hulu Plus to be entered into a draw for a holiday at a Beaches resort or a 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle and free Gold Live access for a year.

We await official confirmation.

I know CVG is global site but still the majority of viewers are UK based and really dont care to be reminded that we dont get these services in good old blighty ...

All these U.S based articles do is make me annoyed about all the stuff that we're missing out on in the UK.
Its like the guys at CVG get some sort of kick out of saying to us "look at all this cool new stuff that you'll never get to see cos Microsoft doesn't give a f*ck about you" :x

BBC wanted to bring out their Iplayer on XBL but refused to let MS charge users for the service.

Friggin' ridiculous. They were also originally working with BT for BT Fusion inclusion but that went south as well.

Sod MS and Sony, I'm sticking with Nintendo alone for next gen.

Nintendo wouldn't be too big on this either. They did offer Netflix in US and BBC iPlayer for UK (I live in Ireland so I can download it, but can't use it). We'll have to see with Cafe.

I browse through a lot of US game sites and occasionally find out info relevant to me in the UK, so I'm sure gamers from other countries browse CVG. CVG is a pretty well known location for gaming info, so I would imagine this may be the first stop for some US gamers.

You can't blame CVG, It is called the World Wide Web after all.

This is true but Nintendo ain't pretending otherwise. At least online details would be safe. 3DS seems to be getting a video service shortly though.

I swear you guys, with all of your “isn’t this a Uk site… wah wah wah”…. People in the US read this site every day. EVERY DAY.

What? You mena you don't dedicate EVERY HOUR to this site?!

You see CVG. Why do you want to cater to the US when they can't dedicate every waking minute to you?

    lol @ Hulu plus.

It's a free service, but MS wants you to pay for it? Not only that but you actually have to go ahead and upgrade to a Gold Account first? So, thats $8 a month, plus $50 a year.... for something that is otherwise free?

This is all too much money grubbing for me... I'm building a new PC this year, it'll likely be better spec-wise than the next gen systems that come out in two years, all my games will be 15-20 cheaper, free dlc, mods, i don't have to pay for avatars, hulu is free... wtf. Console gaming is really becoming quite a drag lately.

Out of the first 250 people listed on the forum members list, only 2 of them are American. So that's less than 2%. I'd say that's enough to be able to claim this as a UK site.
I think people are just moaning because CVG is one of the few places where we can get proper UK news, because, believe it or not, a lot of the news we see on IGN and other US based sites is not applicable over here in the UK. This is why we get annoyed when stuff like this comes up, because it isn't applicable to 98% of the people who view this site. It also just shows how MS is screwing us over in the UK with regards to the services we're missing out on.

Understandable. However, I don't want news to be excluded. I love the layout, and feel I get the most info here. Plus I just like it here. I lub u guyz!

They could at least put "US Only" in the title. Or at least make it an interesting comparison article asking why America is getting this but we're not getting similar UK based services such as BBC iPlayer, 4oD, ITV Player, 5 On Demand etc. All we get here is the sh*tty Sky package where you have to already be a Sky subscriber and it costs the same as getting a second Sky receiver but offers far less functionality. You guys get Netflix and Hulu and we get pretty much nothing :-(

Always been the way with XBL, very US favoured. I hate our current dashboard here in the UK as its more filled with adverts than features and the game marketplace is a mess to navigate through.
