Reports are coming in that certain modified Xbox 360 consoles were playable online for a period yesterday.
According to users on Bungie.net, NeoGAF and Xbox-Scene, modified Xbox 360 consoles - which Microsoft started banning in November 2009 - were un-banned for most of yesterday, but are now barred once more.
Some users attribute the reprieve to emergency testing following recent, service-wide security breaches on PlayStation Network.
There's been no official comment from Microsoft, but the Xbox Live Status page notes that maintenance work is being performed on matchmaking services to stamp out a phishing attack on Modern Warfare 2.
