A group of hackers is planning a third "major attack" on Sony this weekend, reports are suggesting.
A source observing the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hackers has made the claims to CNET - and says that those involved plan to release "all or some of the information they are able to copy from Sony's servers, which could include customer names, credit card numbers and addresses."

The PlayStation Network suffered a major attack at the end of last month (as if we need to remind you) leaving Sony to concede that the personal details of millions had potentially been stolen.
24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts were next in line for the hackers.
'Hacktivist' group Anonymous has again denied it has anything to do with the most recent PSN hack, after Sony said it had discovered that intruders had planted a file on one its compromised servers named 'Anonymous' with the words 'We are Legion.'

So they're noble hackers fighting the big corporations. They will not sell the information they have stolen, but they will give it away to everyone at once. Well that's perfectly alright then. Glad they've cleared that up.

Yawn , non story really . So some ppl met in a Chat room claim they going to give away details of Sony customers , and exactly how would this be fighting against Sony ?? It would only hurt customers, like it's doing anyway. So not exactly getting us on side with ur campaign u dorks!! Furthermore , if they planning to attack the Sony website, I presume, its not the psn site as that's down anyway, and they would have no idea if the security involved , when it's not even up. So , I'm guessing this is a bs story to fill space .

and the gates of heaven, previously forced open, now unintentionally welcomes hell in the form of unjustified chaos and destruction....
how can this s**t be justified?
why doesn't sony throw some money at a top security firm and install a firewall while they are rebuilding the psn?
for all those people that wanted public answers to what has happened to the psn, you have officially screwed sony, by wanting to know everthing that has happened, to sony saying what they are doing to fix it, all the hackers have seen sony at it's most vunerable, it was better when all we knew was it was a hacker attack.....
yet even though this is rumors, how long will it take for people to confirm this s**t will happen, sony says that the psn will be online within this week, it is friday now so 2 days left, worse case scenario would be that sony release a statement saying "It is finally back on" then in a mere matter of hours, s**t happens again.
bottomline is whoever is doing this s**t, whether it's p**sed off ex-sony staff, anonymous, 360 fanboys, or whatever, this s**t needs to stop, gaming is no longer a hobby, to some it's a way of life.

I just want to be able to log back on the PSN and remove my card details from the account. I know its too late to stop whats already gone on, but if this is going to be something that happens regularly now, i dont want my card details on the system. Its a real shame because this has given these hacking n*bs a great deal of power- the power of FEAR. All they have to do now is threaten that there going to hack PSN and users will be panicing. In the past no-one would have been bothered because they'd never been successful, unfortunately, now thats not the case.

Right now people are upset at Sony for losing the information. How much longer until people start seeing Sony as the victim in all this?

U can't rule out some idiot who can't see what they are doing, but my guess is they don't care, and the whole customer rights thing is bs anyway, otherwise they wouldn't have attacked psn anyway:

On topic. Hopefully this won't do any more damage. I think Sony made some silly decisions in dealing with stuff before, but their users did not deserve this at all. Do u think?? Actually not being online hasnt bothered me that much, but I would like to have the choice, but what annoys me more is the fundamental principles underlying this whole affair, but whilst we are here, go funk urself too mate, coming here with ur "clever " wit, and patronising tone.
It's not my fault ur too dumb to see the intended humour within my comment. Furthermore, I have right to be angry, not so much about being offline, but at the damage done to the company that makes my console, both financially and in terms of their brand image which could lead to loss of millions of dollars in their future profits, the loss of millions of dollars in video game industry through piracy and maybe related job losses and dev closures, the hackers that populate(d) psn and ruined games, the theft of and possible sale of my personal details. So yes, im a little miffed that some virgin douche bag dork, hacked psn.
Truthfully??? no i wouldnt like to see anyone suffer in this manner in reality, as i'm actually a caring and compassionate person(cant believe i just said that, it sounds so vomit worthy), but in my sick sense of humour, it amuses me to imagine them suffering this way, but id happily see them prosecuted to full extent of law, and given a shoe-ing or two during incarceration.
if you want my real views heres a post from another thread i commented on. warning it's bit long. lol
"found a quote from mr(s) graf chokolo regarding sony pressuring him into giving up his work on other os hack.
"To give up would mean for me to betray my principles guys, so, the next question is what is more worth to me, my life or my principles. Keep my principles and destroy my life or to trample on my principles and save my life ? Most of you know only my work and don’t really know my personality, the guy who stands behind graf_chokolo. I’m proud how my parents brought me up, they tought to me to fight for my principles and what is right. To be a man of principles is not an easy task."
You would think he was being asked to destroy the cure to cancer or something, when in reality all hes being stopped from doing is ruining millions of ps3 users experiences online, due to hackers, and stopping the piracy of billions of dollars worth of software, and possibly in the process leading to job losses /closure of innocent software developers or at least them losing money.
My hero
As others have pointed out, if they really want os, use a pc and feck off and let us play games without them ruining it for us.
Sony put OS in and hackers ruined it for themselves by exploiting that os to hack the ps3 for other purposes. So they only got themselves to blame imo for Sony removing it.
Sony has the right to protect it's business interests and those of its clients, and just because some dork somewhere feels he has the right to be able to do what he wants with his own piece of hardware, doesnt mean he has, when it affects millions of other people, rather than the small handful of gimps that want os. My desktop pc is my own hardware, doesnt mean i have a right to use it to hack windows, or look at sick pictures of kids. The hardware maybe their property, but once they start tampering with the operating system of the ps3(property of Sony) and modifying it, leaving exploits for other illegal purposes such as pirating, then they are breaking the law. You couldnt hack the fbi computer system and then pass on details of how you did it, even though u werent intending it to be used for theft of dat etc, and not get punished. you would be sent down for years.
Im sick of people in this world crying about their rights, when in reality they dont care about rights of others. Hope these prats get prosecuted to full extent of law. im sick of them."

A company like Sony with all their millions should ALWAYS be one/two or even ten steps ahead of the game. This argument is paramount to a woman deserving to be raped for wearing revealing clothes. Yeah, she should have seen it coming, she provoked them, she could have done more to stop this happening.
At end of day, they were not ones committing crime. Sony had security infrastructure, one that was beyond realms of ur everyday schoolboy hacker, so this is a relatively professional job , that's been planned and prepared for. Yes Sony's infrastructure , according to a few individual ( not exactly reliable ) sources , should have been better, but again, who committed the crime here?? Who hacked into a secure system with the intent of stealing data?
In regards to someone who said, it's karma for lik sang, as someone who back when I was a teen had a ps2 chipped, I can honestly and regretfully look back at my actions and think I was in the wrong, and similarly lik sang was costing the industry hundreds of millions . So maybe it was karma they went down , for their actions ??
There's Various restrictions placed on the video game industry , that are put there to safe guard their earnings, Sony's profits out of gaming has been relatively modest compared to some like activation , as they make huge losses on hardware development and sales, and claw it back through cuts of software sales and licensing fees etc.
When u see that state of industry outside of the big companies, with job cuts, devs closing etc, well there may be not much of an industry left with things going as they are, instead it will be a hollow shell, with yearly updates of franchises, no creativity, party games for casual gamers, angry bird clones by zillions etc.
So , I personally think Sony should fight these bastards all the way, and those who cheer on Sony's demise, well, take into account what happens when there's no competition , you have an autocratic ruler, who dors as they please, they can charge what they want for games , accessories , online etc. Worse still , theres no innovation and creativity. Think things are bad now that ms charges People ridiculous prices for things like hard drives, pads etc, wait and see what happens if they are the only dominant force in industry

I agree the hackers are in the wrong and should be dropped on their heads from a great height. However, companies like Sony employ people to investigate security threats constantly and they are well aware of the risks. They have the cash to prevent this kind of thing. They make mega sums of money to be where they are, so theres no excuse for not having the best. Only now, after being humiliated, are they improving the security and investing in it. If that security technology was already available prior to this happening, then why wasn't it already in place? Answer: MONEY.

I said the rape and toilet licking thing as humorous comment based on prison related "myths", which is where they belong. However, would u wish someone to have their wealth stolen from them ?? As this is what the hackers have done. Would u wish developers to lose millions and lay people off , so now people are jobless, yet this is what hackers are responsible for .So my sympathy with them is very limited.
How do you know what level of security is needed though ? If the will is there ,people have hacked banks, FBI files etc etc, so what's sufficient protection? I'm not saying Sony isn't responsible for it's actions and should have invested further in it's security, and be made to answer to questions asked of it for it's negligence, or that it's some whiter than White company . I actually detested them and their arrogance during the ps2 era at points, but they are still victims of crime.
It's a very sad world we live in where we blame the victim if the crime, and ignore the perpetrator.
Sure Sony has to be held accountable for it's actions, I am just saying, that they had security, and clearly they were under attack from people of significant skill to do this, so we must remember this is a crime and the criminals involved are ultimately to blame. What have they achieved by the way?? If it's anonymous/rogue anonymous agents , who claim to fight for people's rights and are acting in retaliation to Sony's prosecution of geohotz and securing the ip addresses/personal info of people visiting his website, so they could continue their investigation into hackers working on their product and costing them a fortune, well, they just released personal info of the ppl they claiming to be fighting for the rights of. I am all for the hack and downed online.
Why ? Just look at the past week.
It's amazing how much we Americans can do when the PS3 Network is down.
Osama Bin Laden is the living proof of this fact.
Oh wait, he's dead....

'Children would kick balls over Osama bin Laden's garden wall and never get them back, neighbours revealed yesterday.'"

Are u really human u sound like a giant talking arse to me

Based on your answer above that's exactly the kind of a reply a teenager would give....

I suppose mature adults accuse people of being a teenager, without any basis for their accusations? If u going to say Im acting like a teenager in first place, then surely you should base it on something, and give me the opprtunity to respond? Because so far the only thing I can see that wasnt a balanced and thought out response to anything posted on here by myself is the the joke about Bin laden and his psn details etc.
If u have really have some issue with something i have said, then discuss it, as I am willing to discuss things sensibly, but if u just throw out random remarks, with no quote even attached on which to base ur comment, im basically just going to laugh in ur face and tell u to feck off.

Not a very mature statement from you regarding the hackers:
I personally hope they all get made to hold someone's pocket in jail(prison break reference), and get repeatedly ass f**ed by guys who are hung like donkeys, and then made clean their toilets with their tongue
Now is that a mature statement?

jesus, ur a bit behind arent u?? we discussed this and moved on many many moons ago in this thread, but for ur benefit, ill repost what followed that statement, which was a throwaway comment made in jest, suggesting my frustration.
here is the post that's dated 05 May 2011, 11:44, so next time before throwing in your 2 cents, try following the rest of the conversation connected to a statement. If u havent got a sense of humour(or the same as mine), thats fine, but at least read the rest of the posts i put up before making stereotyped assertions about me as a person, based on one comment made in jest.
If i was to make assumptions on u as a person based on ur two previous comments, i could say ur incapable of writing more than one sentance, because u managed only one sentence on both occasions, is this assumption fair??? of course it's not, so I suggest next time , dont make comments that are so general and overarching based on one comment, as it's both ignorant and inaccurate.

" Actually not being online hasnt bothered me that much, but I would like to have the choice, but what annoys me more is the fundamental principles underlying this whole affair, but whilst we are here, go funk urself too mate, coming here with ur "clever " wit, and patronising tone.

"Kiran, I seriously hope you didn't mean that stuff about what you hope happened to them . They're dicks, yup. At the end of the day though, they targeted a huge corporation, not you, you're just caught up in the damage sadly. Regardless of what they've done, what you said was .... really pretty low, and degrading to you as a person as well. Being annoyed is one thing, wishing vile inhumane acts on people you've never met who stopped you from playing online for a while, is a bit much.
I know it's become the sort of internet thing to say, even in a joking manner, but it's still sick and reflects badly on you as a person. Don't let it get to you man, keep your dignity.
If you were being sarcastic, thanks for reading and my bad I guess in that case this stands as a note for all."
