Following the release of the first teaser trailer yesterday, Square Enix has officially announced Hitman Absolution, which is in development at Kane and Lynch developer IO Interactive.
The fifth game in the series once again stars everyone's favourite bald-headed assassin in a suit, who's this time taking on his "most dangerous contract to date".
It's being built using Glacier 2, proprietary technology developed by IO, and is currently billed as a 2012 release. Square Enix says it plans to show more of the game during E3.
Square's official blurb says (read it in trailer voiceover guy's voice for added effect): "Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth."
IO game director Tore Blystad adds: "For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy.
"This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world."
