First 3DS eShop content detailed?

3DSWare, 3D Classics, 3D Video Player and more on the way

Details of the debut 3DS firmware update and eShop content have seemingly hit the net.

Set to arrive later this month, the eShop will house Virtual Console, DSiWare and 3DS-specific titles at lanch, as well as other gaming and media content.

While there's no mention of the web browser support promised to arrive in the same update, The Magic-Box is reporting that Nintendo has revealed the first Japanese eShop content in the latest issue of Famitsu.

Here's the lot:

  • 3DS Ware - Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype (200 yen), Petitcom (800 yen)
  • DSi Ware - The ability to import DSi Ware from DSi to 3DS
  • 3D Classic - Classic titles in 3D. Excitebike, Legend of Zelda and Xevious will be available
  • Virtual Console GameBoy - Ikari no Yousai, Phantasm
  • Virtual Console Game Gear - Sonic & Tails 2, Sonic Drift 2, Dragon Crystal, Columns
  • Virtual Console GameBoy Color - Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda DX (Demo)
  • Virtual Console TurboGrafx-16 - Games TBA
  • Demos - 3D Video Player, 3D Game Trailer/Previews Channel, Fuji TV and Nippon TV Previews
3DS project lead Hideki Konno admitted in March that the Wii and DSi consoles' digital shops were disappointing to both Nintendo and consumers, leading the platform holder to delay the launch of the 3DS eShop to make sure it got it right out of the blocks.

    I'm disspaointed Nintendo aren't allowing Club nintendo members to convert stars into 3DS points, as they are scrapping the points system for the 3DS in favour of a cash system. I emailed Nintendo and they said they had no plans to allow Club Nintendo members to use their saved up stars. I bought Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias on WiiWare instead, as I was itching to use my stars. I'll keep savinf stars and hopefully by the time I've saved enough (again) I'll be able to use them in the eShop.

    Hopefully those plans won't last. Only reason to prefer the Wii and DSi shops was the way in which you could purchase further bonuses from the games you've previously invested in. Of course you'll still be able to do that buy using the stars to purchase physical items and digital stuff for your phone/PC. But being able to buy *free* games was always nice...

    lol. So Konno thinks the shops where disappointing? lol. How about the worst shops in the history of anything. Slow, clunky, overpriced, no sales, limited and lack of software, boring, rubbish interface, basic emulation - and that's going easy - it would drive you to piracy.

    It's a bad sign when hackers could produce faster, smoother and better looking Wii channels and wider support than Nintendo themselves!! :lol:

    I have big hopes for the 3DS shop however! :D

    It'll be in the firmware.

    That's why it's not in the list of software for download from the eShop.

    I imagine it is the Nes original. I'm more interested in xevious out of the titles shown. That game has aged really well and would really suit 3d.
