Game: F1 2011
Likelihood of E3 2011 showing: Certain
Codemasters' F1 2010 managed to do something incredible: it brought a sport that is traditionally shunned by the gaming masses to the mainstream and made it accessible.
Formula 1 racing is a brand of motorsport with some very vocal detractors. The lack of overtaking, enforced pit stops, politics and team competitiveness being more down to budget than skill are frequently picked at.
Formula 1 2010 took all these 'faults' and thanks to its impressive driving model turned all off them into interesting gameplay wrinkles for those that enjoy racing games but might not be familiar with the world of F1.
It got so much right with F1 2010, which makes it it all the more pleasing to see that Codemasters has put the call out to the F1 gaming community to provide feedback and help shape the future of the game.
"In F1 2011 players will be challenged to 'be the driver, live the life, go compete,' with wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements on and off track and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components" Codies has said, and it will offer much more than just "a few new tracks and a few new drivers".
It looks to us like they're on the road to something really special.
