Konami's next Metal Gear title launches in the US on November 2, 2012, according to alleged Gamestop documents picked up by OXM.

Hopefully this is outdated - or plain incorrect - info, because we don't want to wait that long for a new console Metal Gear.
Still, if reports from earlier this week are correct, we should be able to get our hands on Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D this November.

Yes! It would be nice if some more info on the game comes out soon. This would make for a good cover story from Game Informer. I hope it doesn't get delayed from that spot.

This game must have been s**t as it was supposed to be it last October.

3.5 years after it was announced? 2.5 years after we've seen gameplay? 4.5 years after the last console Metal Gear? This had better be bad information . . .

I don't care. I love MGS games. But no SNAKE = Not a real MGS game. Hopefully a REAL MGS5 will come to the PS3 one day

to me this IS the next PROPER installment, since Raiden is now much more of a badass that snake, i'd rather be chopping dudes up and darting about as a cyborg ninja than rolling around and lying still on the floor as a decrepid old snake, i wouldnt be surprised if nov 2012 is for real , because kojima productions don't f*ck about nothing they do is half arsed!

With Mass Effect 3 kicking off next year the lineup looks to be a great follow up to this year.

Just port MGS Peace Walker to PS3.

I want a full MGS RISING reveal & release date at E3, & IT SERIOUSLY BETTER BE SOONER THAN NOV 2012...

I think it will be well worth the wait, and I think this game is going to be EPIC. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this game being built from the ground up?
JD_Method on 13 May '11 said:
Are you the person that sent that letter to Kojima after MGS1 saying that you don't want to play as old man Snake? It's why we got pansy Raiden in MGS2.
Calcifer on 13 May '11 said:
Its not about whether it is worth the wait - does it really take nearly 5 years to make a game nowadays? I mean, I was still in my first year when I bought a PS3 for MGS4. I could have switched degrees, done a 3 year course in programming, got a job at a games company and made a game in the time it has taken for a new Metal Gear... thats pretty fail even if the game is gonna be the best thing ever made ever!

Noticably around the time in which Nintendo will be releasing a new console...
Hmmm. Would indeed make a brilliant launch title.

That wingey little bitch Raiden pretty much put me off MGS2.
Peeps, does MGS 3 have this cretin in it or was he put to the sword?

2012?!!!!!!! WTF. This better be a huge cock-up of a typo. I know when it come to MGS, Konami and Kojima want it done right, but for the love of our sanity, don't become Polyphony/Gran Turismo. We can only take so much waiting.... (wink, wink, are you listening Sony?!!!).

That's nearly a 5 year gap from MGS4 to Rising, that ain't good enough. Remain sceptical about this, OTT action shouldn't be a main feature of MGS. It's featured heavily in previous games sure, but it looks like stealth has been TOTALLY abandoned, and that's what made MGS great. MGS4 took it far enough away, every time you were spotted it was no big deal because you can just gun all the enemies down, but back in MGS1 or 2 you shat bricks every time you were spotted. Might be losing some of its magic now.
mogel94 on 14 May '11 said:
I pretty sure Hideo Kojima said this wasn't a proper MGS game; hence the removal of 'Tactical Espionage Action' and addition of 'Lighting Bolt Action' as the subtitle. Another factor to consider is that Kojima was more focused on Peace Walker and was just an executive producer. In fact Kojima probably would state that you've already had the latest proper MGS with Peace Walker, which Totally disagree with but whatever I'm still gonna get Rising asap.

I'm not too worried about the release date. From what I saw of the game it still has a lot of work to be done and I'd rather play a game that is of a higher quality than a rushed, flawed product. From what I've seen of it though it looks more of an action game and that is worrying as Metal Gear was always about stealth but over the years I've seen it gradually move away from that area and more into action which is not what I want from a Metal Gear game.
MattyR95 on 14 May '11 said:
You can't be certain of the stealth bit, we've barely seen anything. Also you could only gun then down on MGS4 on easy or normal, any higher and you'll be dead very quickly and/or use up all your rations etc. I think there will be stealth but instead of the waiting around, seeing if the coast is clear, you'll run and jump around em' all etc.
GlynCR on 15 May '11 said:
id forgotten all about this!!
needs more snake
humanhand on 15 May '11 said:
MG hasn't moved away from stealth at all. You can still go through a level without killing anyone, or being detected. They've just added to the firepower/killing options.
GaryStew1980 on 15 May '11 said:
why does it always take so long for these games to be released? No matter what they do it will be a let down due to the silly wait.
KippDynamite on 15 May '11 said:
Raiden is mocked in MGS3 via a character named Raikov that looks exactly like him. You knock him out, take his clothes, and stuff him in a locker.
FYI for others, this is not "a Hideo Kojima game." The dude making it said that it is still primarily a stealth-based game, but that you will be sneaking in expanded ways, among streets and rooftops, for example. He also said that, though you can cut people up, he will never make it easier to kill someone than to sneak past them. He also said that there will be creative ways of fighting, such as cutting an enemies gun in half while leaving them unharmed.

Sorry, but I disagree. Like the recent Splinter Cell the game has gradually moved away from the stealth genre into action I've felt the same when playing the Mgs games. You can play in stealth mode if you try really really hard, but there are a lot of points in Mgs 2, 3 and 4 where you are forced to be seen to continue, which simply develops into a scripted firefight. I can understand a couple of parts in the game where this is part of the overall story, but it happens way too often and seemed to be on the increase in every installment after the original. I still enjoyed the Mgs games (especially number 3) but I hope they have more emphasis on stealth in this coming installment.
