Xbox Live users are reporting problems accessing Xbox Live Marketplace through both Xbox 360 and PC.
According to various CVG readers who've contacted us in the last hour (and we've tested the claims ourselves), Xbox 360 consoles are currently having trouble displaying any Marketplace content.

The Xbox Live support team said in a statement:
"Users may experience difficulties with the following services: Browsing Indie Games from the Xbox 360 console or Xbox.com, browsing the Games for Windows - LIVE Marketplace on a PC, Browsing Games Marketplace from the Xbox 360 console or Xbox.com.
"We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
Although most likely related to the ongoing dashboard update deployment, after the PSN breach drama of the last month there are undoubtedly a few 360 owners on the edge of their seats.
We'll contact Microsoft PR for further comment.

Wait that means the Wii Shop Channel is the only place on consoles left to buy digital content! May God have mercy on us all...

Who cares? Most of you should all be at work/school anyway.

yeah i have just been on there, everything all the games mentioned now have the generic Xbox game cover, instead of individual game titles covers

It's a mess granted. But it does have some great stuff on it regardless.

This always happens on Xbox. Been happening for years. Sometimes you log in & all tabs are missing apart from 'My Xbox'.
Stop using the PSN hack to scaremonger CVG. Pathetic!
Moribundman on 25 May '11 said:
I'm pretty sure you'll find this is dashboard update related rather than hack related... And like the man says, if you're browsing XBLA at 1:30pm midweek you should either be at work, at school, or not frittering someone else's money away on avatar clothing...
Still, whatever the reason, we're paying for this unlike PSN, so if it's down for a full day or more then thankyou very much I'd like cash please Microsoft, not bribe/games I already own.
wrightandrewjame on 25 May '11 said:
True. Some great stuff at extortionate prices. Or points. Or whatever. At least their Club Nintendo Star scheme was a redeeming factor. Got a few free games that way.

Man, seriously. The consoles are getting a real kicking at the moment.
I'm sure Steam is still working though.
I love Steam.

This. I've experienced this issue about 3/4 times this year, nothing to be worried about in terms of the PSN issue.

So Monday to Friday 9-5 is the only acceptable working pattern these days? And if you do happen to be looking at the marketplace at home at 1:30pm you must be unemployed and you must be using 'someone else's money'......

I'm on holiday from work... if I want to spend the money I've earnt on marketplace content then I can do so (when it's up). It's a bugger as I wanted to download the new D&D game.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 25 May '11 said:
I'll never understand why people buy bread and milk. they're the two things that go off the quickest. I also don't drink that much tea or eat that much toast.
Was rather good living round the corner from asda during the snow last year though. There was no, brea, milk or beans but plenty of heavily reduced extra special stuff that no one was buying due to the snow. I ate like a crazed snow covered king!
zombiesinmyhead on 25 May '11 said:
Mate, people buy up all the bread and milk for a bank holiday. I think the apocalyse will last a bit longer than that. Thats why I invest all my money in baked beans and shotguns.
Oh crap, baked beans?! What was I thinking, my bunker will be full of farts!

These are just the early signs, PSN being hacked, XboxLive marketplace offline. The s**ts gonna really hit the fan when Facebook becomes sentient at the end of October.
And Camping actually originally predicted that the world would end in October, last weekend was apparently just The Rapture. Looks like we were all "left behind", Kirk Cameron included.
Oh and feel free to check out this website, i honestly can't believe someone created it.

Tesco are useless when it comes to best before dates. Went there the other day and the bread had just 1 day before the best before date. The crumpets were either out of date or expiring that day. That's the last time I'm shopping with the riff-raff. Marks and Spencers and Waitrose all the way. *puts on monocle*

But you're right, such a thing as shift work, part-time jobs; people who are (genuinely) unwell, housewives (or indeed husbands); students with no lectures that day, ghosts; highly evolved dust and you're own 360's AI.
To name a few possibilities, or not.
I remember a time where we didn't have this b*****ks though. A simpler time where not getting slow down impressed you.
*sigh*

Catastrophe deferred?
I would not be surprised if this XBL Marketplace downtime is related to a DDoS attack against those servers though I would also not be surprised if it wasn't.
Aiming squarely at those who only want digital distribution, are these co-ordinated online attacks not another convincing case against the dismissal of physical media based entertainment / content?
Anyone putting personal data on there deserves to be labelled a "Facebookie". It is a colossal waste of time, the biggest since William Shatner finally exposed Star Trek. Using Facebook gives you "nerd" status whilst also putting you at more risk of bullying than a "Trekkie", unless you're a "Facebookie Trekkie" that is...
El Mag on 25 May '11 said:
Alright own up, who went and brought all the bread and milk before i got there. It must be somebody smart because they took my backup options of Heinz Ravioli and all the Peperami too. I don't mind i'm not mad at you or anything, just share alright?
On a separate note. If anybody thought this place was bad for rage commenting then go have a read of this metro review for The Witcher 2.

I like it "Facebookies", its got a nice ring to it. Going to conventions and dressing up as their favourite friends, or social gaming characters.
God they'd be worse than Trekkies.
On a side note what qualifies you as a Trekkie? I've seen every episode of T.O.S, T.N.G, DS9 and Voyager but stopped watching Enterprise. I've seen every film bar Nemesis. I have ,though, never been to a convention, signing or event nor dressed up as an alien. I did once spit down the back of a guys trousers who was dressed as a Klingon handing out fliers for Forbidden Planet in Glasgow.
How bad is it doc?
ensabahnur on 25 May '11 said:

Which reminds me, where did the saying 'sell like hotcakes' come from?. It's bloody stupid, have you ever tried a Mr Kipling cherry bakewell after a minute in a microwave it's fecking awful, you sure as s**t wouldn't buy one.

They are enabling PAYPAL support as it was part of the new update which got rolled yesterday, so I assume this is why only the marketplace is down
boskersrevenge on 25 May '11 said:
The microwave or the cherry bakewell itself?
ensabahnur on 25 May '11 said:
Well Mag said it was a Mr Kipling cherry bakewell and they've got a decent security system in place so it'd have to be the microwave.
@Boskers, no its not wrong to be attracted to peddling puppets, i myself was drawn to the Smash robots (god the majority on here probably don't even know the Smash robots) when i was younger. Oh aye and if its the younger one from those Dolmio ad's i'm with you, but if its the mamma you really need help.

It's the cherry bakewell. He's after Kipling's exceedingly good recipe. Fighting for the freedom of information just like Anonymous. He was caught in the act too:

Don't know what scares me most, the fact the reviewer sounds like they missed most of the features of the game or actually playing any of it, the amount of rage against the reviewer or the fact that you read The Metro game reviews.

Didnt affect online play what so ever, couldnt access new content for about an hour, whats the big deal? Not like we had our online taken down for 25 days and store down for a month....just sayin :p

Yeah, mines back to normal now.
NEO_SUPERMAN on 25 May '11 said:

This sucks. I want compensation. Or just flip the gears 3 beta back on and we'll call it quits.

El Mag on 25 May '11 said:
You never read Digitiser and Gamecentral on teletext back in the day? because that's who do The Metro's game section nowadays. If you didn't read them then you aren't allowed to go near another console ever again, hand in your badge and your pads. The comments show the PC crowd aren't to be messed with though eh, they were p**sed right off.
MPH on 25 May '11 said:
The store's been down nearly all day. I tried to download D&D this morning and even though I could add it to my download queue, it would fail instantly. Now the entire marketplace is down on Xbox.com and I read an article earlier detailing the fact it won't be up until tomorrow: http://www.judgegame.com/2011/05/xbox-l ... -downtime/
Dunno how trustworthy that source is though.
matthewtelee on 25 May '11 said:
With PSN and XBL Marketplace down, I'll have to go to my third choice of store... Steam!
lonewolf2002 on 25 May '11 said:
Aye I remember Digitiser etc I am that old lol Ceefax etc used to be the internet basically. Did not know that the those people were behind the Metro reviews but in all seriousness I never go there.
Well the review did come across as very badly done imo so the flack was well deserved (again just my opinion), Witcher 2 is a fantastic game and like say Demons Souls does not hold your hand or suffer fools lightly. Each to their own and all that.

yeah the marketplace was not displaying the content earlier but it is all fixed not and i am downloading the trail game of the dungeons and dragons game that went up
