Uncharted film director quits

David O. Russell ditches project due to 'creative differences'

David O. Russell, the man who sat in the director's chair for the Uncharted movie, has quit the project.

According to a Variety report, 'insiders' has said the director has left the project due to 'creative differences'. Although the exact circumstances aren't detailed, the split was apparently an amicable one.

Russell sought to defend his work on the film back in February after fans apparently "bitched" over the direction of his unfinished script, assuring fans: "It's going to be real, it's going to be raw, it's going to be intense, it's going to be original, and it's going to be propulsive."

Although no talent had been specifically confirmed, it was reported that Russell was looking to recruit Mark Wahlberg to play the role of Nathan Drake. Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes were also named for possible roles in the cast (which we mentioned so we'd have an excuse to post the above picture of Johansson looking rather erm... healthy in that red top - you're welcome).

According to Variety, a new writer and director will take over the project, which will probably see casting start from scratch. We vote for Johansson to stay. All in favour...?
