Nintendo 3DS EU eShop to offer free Excitebike 3D

Platform holder officially details European service

Following this morning's Japan announcement, Nintendo's detailed the content set for the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Europe.

Following a system update on June 7 (that's Tuesday), Nintendo 3DS users will gain access to the internet browser and eShop, which will offer access to a variety of new content including Pokédex 3D, an application that lets fans see Pokémon characters in 3D.

As rumoured, to celebrate the opening of the eShop, Nintendo is offering the NES game Excitebike re-mastered in 3D as a free download until July 7 for anyone who performs the system update.

Virtual Console content set to be available in Europe includes Game Boy games Super Mario Land, Alleyway and Tennis. New content will be added to the Nintendo eShop every Thursday.

Visitors will also be able to view game trailers, screenshots and product information for games, and allow DSi owners to transfer their purchases over to 3DS.

The system update also gives users the ability to receive SpotPass content from supported public Wi-Fi hotspots across Europe and in the near future, says Nintendo.

Users will be able to download a free application for a "short-form video service" that will enable them to view specially selected video content, including 3D movie trailers, comedy clips and music videos automatically received using the SpotPass feature.
To perform the recommended system update, 3DS users can simply start the "System Settings" from the Home Menu, select "Other Settings" and scroll the page right to select "System Update."
